    AR MAGLOCK ISSUE

Hello everyone. I wanted to see if anyone else who installed the AR Maglock Kingpin on their AR was having the same issue as me. I have a complete PWS ( primary weapon system) chambered in .223 wylde. I installed the kingpin, however this is my problem. When firing, after the mag is emptied and the bolt catches to the rear like it should, I press the kingpin and their is no separation from the upper and lower. Its not until I release the bolt to the forward position, that's when I can press the kingpin and it works fine. Not sure what to do about this. Already been in contact with the owner of Armaglock and he said to send him pictures and we can go from there. Any thoughts or people running into same issue?

If I'm reading this correctly: If the bolt is locked back into the buffer tube, the upper and lower is not going to separate. That's why some people would file down the bolt catch so it doesn't lock back the bolt on last round when using a maglock device.

I have an AR Maglock installed. After the last round the bold locks back and I cannot separate the upper until I drop the bolt forward. I think without any changes that is how it normally operates. What I don’t like (as others have mentioned) is clearing a jam as it is a little more difficult since you can’t drop the mag first because the bolt is partially back.

I have the ARMaglock and Kingpin installed on a CMMG lower. For me it works as advertised.

Except when I tried it with a 9mm upper. Apparently the 9mm bolt/carrier is just too thick to allow the upper and lower to separate enough to drop the mag.

I did polish the part on the Maglock that goes between the lower and upper after the last round. Keeps it from sticking. Also I use the standard mag catch spring instead of the one supplied with the kit.

With the Kingpin kit, the upper and lower will separate just enough even with the bolt/carrier all the way locked back. That is the point to the kit.

That is if you have a normal sized/standard mil spec carrier.

I believe there are some upper/lower manufacturers that don't work well with the kit.

Pretty sure PWS utilizes a BCG that has a larger diameter in the back portion of the carrier to prevent carrier tilt which was/is an issue with gas piston setups.
Even their DI carriers used an enlarged "skid" area.
If you have a mil-spec BCG laying around i'd probably drop it in there and see if the problem persists.

Most companies design (and advertise) their stuff to work with "mil-spec" parts and so sometimes the "enhanced" parts on the market won't be compatible.

                This is a good point.

We haven't had any reports other than this gentlemen using a PWS.

I have the Kingpin/Gen2 kit on Superlative Arms and Adams Arms Piston rifles and they function fine.

the enhance BCG spec does seem to possible be the cause of the issue but I'm waiting to see pictures and/or video to see possible issues.

Here is the link the armaglock owner sent me. My issue is right in the beginning of the video, however he gets slight separation of the upper/lower with the bolt locked to rear, I get absolutely no separation unless the bolt is released then it works fine like it should. The gun is solid, I mean no free play anywhere like the magpul stuff has that slight wobble in the stock etc. This gun has none of that. Not sure if that has anything to do with my situation or not. I just don't like how I have to take a few extra steps to make it work. Those are precious seconds that "could be life or death" . I will try and upload some pictures later. I was just wondering if anyone had the PWS system with the armaglock installed. Thanks for all the comments.

On a side note, filing down the mag release won't do me any good if I have zero separation with the bolt locked back. Still doesn't solve my issue

Hopefully these links work. I tried best to narrate this with pictures. Just picture bolt locked back= no separation and bolt releases= kingpin works and mag drops
