    Passing on magazines

Ok so I wasn't sure if I was supposed to post this in the rifle section or 2nd ammend section, so I figured I would post it here. I searched through the board and acourse my lovely friend google, but did not get a straigh to the point yes or no answer to my question. If it has been talked about and I skipped over the thread, I apologize. This is my last resort for a straight answer (starting a new thread)

So my father owned an AR back in the day, well back in 1993 and he still has some standard capacity (30 round) magazines that we found 2 weeks ago while digging for some old nostalgic pictures. Since he legally owned them before the ban, can he pass them on to me with a written consent.
Me: I did not get my first AR until last year, so I did not own a 30 round magazine before the ban.

And the same for his Glock 17, he has standard capacity mags for it (17 rounds) can he pass those on to me, with written consent?

Once again, I am sorry if this has been talked about and I skipped over it, or I missunderstood the laws, but thats why I am coming here to ask, so if I get flamed, I would prefer you flame me via pm. Thanks Chris

    Answer is no.

He cannot give you the magazine. The best he can do is give you disassembled magazine parts that you can assemble when you are out of State.

He cannot even lend them to you to use unless he is with you.

    here is the PC

12020. (a) Any person in this state who does any of the following
is punishable by imprisonment in a county jail not exceeding one year
    or in the state prison:
    (2) Commencing January 1, 2000, manufactures or causes to be
manufactured, imports into the state, keeps for sale, or offers or
exposes for sale, or who gives, or lends, any large-capacity
    magazine.

I think it can be confirmed that an alien xenomorph is absolutely no match for good ole' Alabama black snake!

    and

If you're in a survival movie and the hot blond twists her ankle and can't walk, you damn well figure a way to carry her. If it's a dude, you shake his hand and say "best of luck".

Dang Vin, couldn't you just scream at him to "Use the Search!"? This politeness thing could undermine the whole board.

What if say your parent dies and you inherit the mags, would that be ok?

No, you can only use high capacity magazines in a registered AW. Unless I've read it wrong, using a hi-cap in your OLL brings it into AW territory - regardless of your setup.

(Disregard this bit of FUD. I stand corrected.)

Incorrect. You may use any legally obtained large-capacity magazines with your FEATURELESS (no evil features) builds.

That is not correct. You cannot mag lock a magazine with a capacity larger than 10 rounds to an OLL. If your OLL is featureless, you can use detachable magazines and if you legally own "high capacity" magazines, you are fine to use them in your OLL or your Cali Reg'd AW.

If your relative is deceased and you inherit their estate, which includes high capacity magazines, what happens? It's not illegal for you to receive them (assuming the relative is in the state of California, so you wouldn't be importing them). The relative is illegally transferring them to you, but can not be prosecuted since they are dead.

Hey we found a loophole, all you need is someone to die!!!

Seriously in this case, it would be the same as if you found them. Possession is not illegal. If they are there, they are there. What are you supposed to do, report them?
