    priorities

Anyone else seeing their hobby priorities shifting? Of course I'm assuming that many of you are like me and have more than one. For me it seems that guns (although I still do have a good deal of passion for the sport) seems to be fading. It's hard (next to impossible) to get anything new, finding places to shoot at least around me is getting harder and harder.

Hell I just spent $1700 on a camera, but I can carry it and shoot it pretty much anywhere I want. Not to mention it is cheaper to feed.

I still shoot just as often, but I’m planning on moving to Texas by the end of the year, so I’m not going to buy anymore firearms till I get there, so I can get them un-neutered with normal mags.
I am spending more time flying my drone, probably will want to upgrade it soon.

Really, it's the hassle of finding a place to shoot that sucks if you live in the Bay Area. A range day has between 2-4 hours of driving round trip for me.
In case it wasn't obvious, nothing I write here should be interpreted as legal advice.

Photography was my "hobby" and firearms are just a way of life. Never particular liked target shooting, but did so to maintain a skill level.

I retired the cameras due to vision issues after about 40 years of looking through a lens. Regards to firearms, it's getting problematic getting to the range. (Maintaining and replenishing ammo is cumbersome too).

So , yes there is a shift and not really the way I had envisioned "retirement".

Cal Fire has put a dent into my rec shooting.

Word of caution about photography. Like firearms, it can be a money sump.

I started with one camera then had to get a 6x6 format, then 5x7, and all the lighting. Slaves, light boxes, and then...

Enjoy it, but it can be addictive.

I have started feeling the same way. Shifting back into my cars. Its not so much the travel, Angeles isn't that far, but I miss being able to just go out and have a good time, come home clean everything and plan for the next time. Now its having to be careful who see's what your putting into your Vehicle, or removing from it, how your transporting everything. When my house here is paid off in the next couple of years, I'm going to be looking at buying a place in AZ that I can spend some time and just go out and shoot and not have to be concerned about the "Yahoo" two lanes over shooting up my target, because he is to lazy to put one out at 100yds.

I grew up in Arizona in the 70's and my friends and I went shooting every week. Living in San Diego, the last time I went shooting was the week before Christmas. I don't like indoor ranges, so the areas where you can legally shoot are an hour drive away. I have all the firearms I want, and I reload, so the liberal restrictions on firearm transactions and buying ammo do not affect me. It also seems that the use of firearms in California is being driven underground.

I guess I should consider myself lucky. Around my area there are at least three decent outdoor ranges, about a half dozen indoor ranges, and plenty of LGS's to choose from.

Ammo? I purchased a very large amount at the end of last year. I'm also considering getting my Ammo Vendor license. But ammo has been easy enough to pick up locally, for now anyway. The roster is what really chaps me. But I did pick up a great double stack 1911 that was still on the roster. Not to mention my new Ruger PC Carbine.

I just arrived in Nevada today and start my new job tomorrow....I’ve only been here for a few hours and it already feels great and that I made the right decision. I will be moving over the next two weeks between my new job and getting the keys to my new house on Wednesday. I just can’t wait till I’m settled. That’s one of the big factors for me it was just way too much in my way to enjoy my life and my hobbies. Felt good actually to put California in the rearview! I never thought I’d ever leave but lately there’s just too much bull***** to deal with and it’s getting worse each year. Life’s too short...now to find some cool places to shoot and figure out what my freedoms allow me to buy. I think a shadow 2 or TSO is a good welcome to freedom gift.

                        Congrats on your relocation.

Last 5 years I've had many family and friends move out of Ca due to the tyrannical business enviornment and continued infringement on our Constitutional rights.

These are people that have lived in the state for their entire lives and their families go back generations as Ca natives.

Happy for you. Enjoy it while you can. Nevada is teetering and about to fall the way of California. Mark my (and other's) words.
