anyways, Isnt there a specific Ak thats banned?

1998 i got my russian for about that and a case of russian(pre-wolf) for $75 from sportsmans guide thems were the days

i think the problem is that the police tell the reporters that it was an ak47 round

they just run with it was an ak47 assault weepon

although in this case it was an "assault weapon" as if did a lot of assaulting thereby any weapon used in an assault is an assault weapon

i wish i could ask them are assault weapons are banned ?
    follow up with
is it possible to buy one from a gunstore?

if so than it cant be an assault weapon right?

Newb here to posting, lurking for a while. My wild guess on the topic...

SKS=bad for Californians, potential for restrictions on all semi-auto rifles or reducing mag capacity for rifles, additions to banned list.

AK-47=bad for the rest of the US (especially if an AK was brought in from out of state). as it is fuel for a new nationwide AWB. Finestein will have another photo op and re-introduce what she has been inching to get back into nationwide law. CA lawmakers will focus on the "out of state" problem.

Overall, I'd be relatively optimistic. The criminal justice system at the prosecution, incarceration and parole stages failed. "Lovelle" was raping and sodomizing 12 years olds (and murdering 4 cops) while on parole for an "assault with a deadly weapon" that he didn't serve a full term on, AND that should have been charged as an attempted murder (multiple shots fired at victim).

      YMMV

I never read anywhere that he was a kiddie rapist, but it doesn't surprise me. I saw a news blurb online which said some people in Oakland are hailing him as a hero. Disgusting BS, Oakland is in serious trouble if people there think that even remotely.

We need to stop blaming weapons and start with the person! LAW ABIDING citizens don't do things the wrong way...ONLY criminals! This would like blaming the 12 year old for the rape this man did, maybe she had on some sexy Hanna Montana outfit and he couldn't resist?

Those wacky fact-checkers must be playing a joke on that reporter.

TV reporters have fact-checkers, don't they? They do research what they're talking about, don't they?

He's suspected of raping a 12 year old girl.

God I better pick up some more of those banned assault weapons down there at big5 before they're all sold to rapists and robbers.

IMHO I could see it going either way. The first being what you stated above.

The second being the gun grabbers state that the current laws are un-enforceable and the issue needs to be dealt with at a federal level or an outright ban of any and all semi's.

I think we need to shall issue. The general public relies on police to protect them against everything when infact they should be responsible for their own protection.
