VIDEO - My typical range routine

    Hi Fellow Enthusiasts,

I have almost as much fun with the video stuff (ZShades video glasses + Corel VideoStudio, etc.), so here it is:

This is what my range routine has evolved to. As a "member", I can go as often as I want, so I typically try to make the best of 50 rounds and call it a day. I think that more frequent visits with a moderate amount of ammo is best for myelinization of *my* neural pathways (the result of practice - see "Myelin": https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Myelin ). The video helps me see where I need improvement (getting it all sighted, staged, and ready to go by the time I'm pressed out), but I'm happy if I get all rounds on paper going as fast as I feel comfortable sans the urgency of the real thing.
My goal is to be as proficient, accurate, and as safe as I can make myself. If you have constructive advice on how to better practice with a box of ammo within the rules and confines of an indoor range ("On Target" in Laguna Niguel - as nice, flexible, and as SAFE a place as I could want), please leave a comment.

P.S.: It slows down as I progress and become more deliberate. Anti-climatic I know. Sorry. I found that ending in a flurry is of less benefit, but it is fun every once in a while. The guys next to me were hilarious. Listen-in on them if you can.

    Best.

I'm no expert but I will say your trigger discipline is primed and waiting for a ND. Take a look at :26 for an example.

again at :57, stopped watching after that.
The inconvenience of poor quality lingers long after the thrill of a good bargain.

          trigger discipline I agree with.

brave opening yourself up for critique here but i've done it as well by posting a lot of videos of myself and gf as well.

aside from the trigger discipline which should be first and foremost...work on NOT riding the recoil. Keep that gun down so that you dont have to aim again after breaking the shot. let the recoil management bring you back on target.

the next 50 rounds you spend are going to be very important because it will either be spent correcting issues or reinforcing bad habits.

good luck and keep shooting. if you can get instruction, do it.

work on your grip, your re-gripping almost every time after a shot.

Less time with the fifty rounds and more time with dry fire "Trigger Finger Control". Get that curl out of your trigger finger when handling your weapon.

I don't know why you chamber the round, lay it on the table and then pick up the pistol with your finger in the trigger guard...itching for an ND. Are you simulating a quick draw?

I lay down the pistol with slide open and when ready to shoot, I pick up the unloaded pistol, insert the mag, chamber the round and then shoot.

I have to agree with the advice given here. For your sake, and anyone around you, please practice safe handling over and over and over again with snap caps, and THEN transfer that same safe handling to the range. Get some professional guidance if need be with the actual shooting...doesn't make you any less of a 'manly-man' to ask for some good guidance. A negligent discharge can have dire and permanent consequences.

                      No disrespect intended.

I know you heard it from the above posts but please work on keeping the finger outside until ready to shoot. But good for you and keep it up. This made me think about my own trips to the indoor ranges and maybe I should record a few sessions.

Reason #348 I stay away from indoor public ranges. Listening to the background conversation is pretty comical.

Outside of everything else pointed out here, I'll add that you really need to work on your grip. Find a private instructor or take a class. (Hint, your thumb is hanging way out there)
