Only the expensive ones in case they have to be returned for warranty work.

I have two so far, they don't take up much room.

        Depends on the scope...

If you have say, a Nightforce scope that you paid over $2K, you're going to want to have all the "parts and pieces" should the time ever come that you decide to sell. For example, I once bought a used rifle that has a Nightforce on it and the guy had the box and everything that came with it.

That said, if we're talking about $79 Tasco scopes, then I do toss those after they start getting in the way.

I went pretty nuts when we sold our house- got rid of a TON of crap that we hadn't used in forever and a week. Gifted a lot of stuff to friends and neighbors- riding mower, lawn mower, tools that I owned in quadruplicate, pot, pans, cast iron cookwear, building supplies... and tossed all the scope boxes and miscellaneous gun box stuff in the burn barrel and had a "barbeque".

Know what I needed and had never kept, ever? Those cheap plastic gun cases that you get when you buy new from gun manufacturers like DPMS. Always gifted them away upon getting my new treasure home. Come moving time, guess what I needed? The number of firearms that had nowhere to snuggle into for a ride was alarming. I have an addiction I guess.

On the plus side, I had a few hundred dollars in Bass Pro gift cards burning a hole in my wallet so I picked up three decent hardside cases; had to add some pocket cash on top. Don't judge. Each case can hold 4 complete uppers (less scopes or other optics) and 4 complete lowers. Yes, I used every molecule of space in every case I own. I had to lay the seats down in my little SUV to fit all the cases for their ride to their new home out of state. The whole time I was traveling, I was imagining the headlines if I got stopped on "a routine traffic stop".

Guaranteed it would make the news and someone on this forum would ask "so who's missing?" or "which Calgunner was this?".

Getting ready to move and probably have at least 20 old scope boxes. Trying to figure out if I should pack them up or trash them.
I save them and put them in the closet next to the empty shoe boxes.

I almost always try to leave the packaging in the store. If I buy shoes I take the shoes, not the box.

I could see keeping one box for warranty use but more than that is just adding clutter to our already cluttered lives!

              Trash them!!

I keep them for a while as others have mentioned in case of warranty work or I sell them. I’ll keep them for my expensive scopes they don’t take up any room at all my house has tons of places to stash stuff. If I didn’t have a lot of room I’d reconsider. I save my pistol and rifle boxes too so what’s a scope box or 20 on top of those lol.
