Like most all of Calif gun laws. THEY have nothing to do with crime prevention. Proof is that gun crimes are rampant and yet, there are other idiots trying to pass anti gun laws, as if the criminals give a chet.

Good for you. That's not a private party transfer.

I love it when "our own" are our worst enemies!

Stop reciting the "law" every time someone asks a question.

i did a transfer at riflegear yesterday.
they needed the ID and FSC from the buyer (me).
i assume other places might do it for free, or have similar charges to this store, while some might not want to be bothered.
some jerk types think transfers cut into their own sales.

        ***********************************

        Private Party Ammunition Transfer Fee
$5 and no sales tax due.
Both parties must be present to conduct a Private Party Ammunition Transfer.

        Ammunition Order Transfer Fee
        Invoiced amount up to $400 = $20
Invoiced amount over $400 = 5% of invoiced amount

Storage fees for Vendor Transferred Ammunition Received:
Up to 30 days = Free
        31 – 60 days = $50 additional fee
        61 – 90 days = $100.00 additional fee

Is that right? I thought 500 rounds and 30 days then face to face was fine no?

If you sell less than 500 rounds within 30 days, then you do not need an ammo vendor license.

If you sell more than 500 rounds within 30 days, then you need an ammo vendor license.

If you do not have an ammo vendor license or are not an exempt person, then the transfer needs to be done through a licensed ammo vendor.

Problem is, the only place locally that does ammo transfers between private parties, charges 10 cents per round!

If both parties are present, then yes. Max vendor transfer fee is $5. [11 CCR 4263(a)]

If only one party is present or if the ammo is shipped, then additional vendor fees can be added. [11 CCR 4263(b)]

For any amount, ever... So in theory I can't give my buddy a box of shells.

Well I learned something new today, The People's Republik of Kalifornistan is even more jacked up than I already knew it to be. Well maybe the slackers that haven't stocked up yet can will realize this is virtually their last chance to buy ammo at a decent price. Wally World in Victorville is pretty well stocked up, but I know next year and when the ammo background checks go into effect there will still be those caught with their pants down as usual.

i have a "regular" license, but last renewed in 2015, so it is not marked "Federal limits apply" on the top right. apparently this was sufficient.

Correct. It applies to any amount of ammo.

One exemption that might apply... if the ammo is transferred while at a licensed shooting range and the ammo does not leave that licensed shooting range. [PC 30312(c)(9)]

I just did a PPT (I was the seller) at a Sportsman's Warehouse that included a long gun and a couple hundred rounds of ammo. Took both into the store and the fellow doing the DROS said not necessary to do any sort of paperwork for the ammo.
                              Alrighty then....
