    LAX Ammo in-store prices???

I was reading some of their pages, like this one: https://www.laxammo.com/lax-factory-...man-can-detail
and they have "Prices are online only and do not reflect in-store prices"...

Has anyone been in the store lately and check to see what new (NOT RELOADED) 9mm, 45, and 223 typically go for in 1000 qty batches? I think it's ridiculous they keep it a secret by not saying over the phone, especially for some of us who would have to drive 100 miles just to see what their asking price is. Thanks to any who reply.

Just buy elsewhere. Their ammo ain't that great and in no way worth a 100 mile drive. Internet price and in house should not vary anyway. Screw them.

They just had federal 556 55g on sale. 1000 for $299 plus tax.
I would not drive that far until they have something on sale. Signup for there email.
Been gone too long. It's been 15 to 20 years since i had to shelf my guns. Those early years sucked.

3 tiers of shell game/bait and switch pricing. I don't play the game.

A couple years ago, when I lived in LA, I noted their in-store prices were usually about 10% more than their online prices. For example, if they had 1000 rounds of 9 mm for $190 online, that same box was $210 in the store.

LAX ammo prices are good during their quartly parking lot sales (if you don't mind waking up early and waiting in line). Otherwise, I go elsewhere for ammo purchase. Like AmmoBros or GunsDirect

I have purchased their "factory new" amms in 9mm and 45ACP, which are mediocre at best. A little on the dirty side and 1 or 2 rounds per 100 rounds would have some issues (seems to be related to primers). Probably not gonna buy them again.

Vistied this location for the first time and witnessed 3 seperate parties purchase over 3000rds of ammo. They are doing something right...

I posted this elsewhere, these are my experience's. I'll not be going there again!

Shopped there twice online prices are not honored in the SD store, told the guy he said I'll give you 5% off said it would be on the receipt but I could not find the discount.

Second time the guy from LA was there and being a d*** and he said I'll take 10$ off I'm still looking for the 10$.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it!

During the most recent LAX ammo parking lot sales, I overheard one of the employees mention to another customer that prices at the Orange County store are higher because the LA store "sells it to the other guy [OC store], they have to charge a little more [margin]". So seems like the OC store is a bit like a franchise. Don't know if this applies to SD location

My experience has varied from some of the disheartened former patrons in this thread...

                      1. I am a Los Angeles city resident (suburbs, but still a city zip) and therefore have always been restricited to brick-and-mortar establishments to procure firearms ammunition.

                      2. I also shoot less-popular calibers such as .41 Magnum and .44 Special; their Factory New loads are a good value when compared to the $1+ per rd of commercially-loaded fare and feature a plated RNFP of decent weight and *new* Starline brass... I have purchased +/- three thousand rounds of each over a period of time and now have a good supply of once-fired brass for handloading these calibers. Win/win.

                      3. They've always had .22 LR and during the shortage. They offer top-shelf defensive hollerpoint loads for my .45 autos

                      4. I'm now on a first-name basis with many of the LAX associates and am often treated to 10% in-store discounts.

                      5. I shoot at their range often. I live two miles away.

I for one wish LAX Firing Range and LAX Ammunition continued success. They have positively contributed to my shooting experience in more ways than one.

Why all the hate on the few businesses that have the balls to try and keep a retail gun or ammo store in business in 2nd-Amendment hating California? Most of these retail stores are small family-owned businesses. Not multi-billion dollar corporations that can sell in-store for the same as on-line. It's not cheap to run a biz in CA. I like LAX Ammo. I go to the OC one in Huntington Beach. If you call any of their 3 stores, they should give you the in-store prices over the phone. I know the OC store does every time I call. Staff is always super friendly (the OC store seems to be a franchised store not owned by LA or SD owner). When I asked them why the difference in pricing, I was satisfied with their answer: "On-line prices are different from a brick-and-mortar store because the overhead to run a business is way more expensive than storing and shipping ammo from a warehouse. (We) sell ammo at near cost on-line nationwide, which allows us to buy in far greater quantity than our retail competitors. (We) can then sell ammo cheaper at our retail stores." I have noticed their in-store retail prices are still cheaper than any of the other retail stores around and you don't have to wait in line with gun buyers or try to find someone to help you. As for quality, I like their LAX brand a lot. Keep in mind, California is going to make it harder and harder for any of us to buy ammo. They're getting smart on regulating it. I'd rather support a biz that is at least trying to help us get access to it than some big corp like WalMart who is going to bail on gun owners as soon as July 2019 rolls around. I'm not going to the trouble to get my FFL03, but my guess is they just don't have the system or man-power in place (yet?) to process those types of orders. May be they will focus more on that when the totality of Prop 63 sets in next year. Just my 2 cents.

It says right on their wesite under the ‘contact’ section-then click retail store, that if you call they will give you in-store prices over the phone. I see no reason why you would have to drive their without knowing the current price...

I suppose I will make my way to the orange county store and see what things are going for and report back here. I tried calling the LA store but no one picked up twice, could have been bad luck. Will update.

I've only bought from them at the OC Gun show recently. Price on 300 BO seemed reasonable but I also haven't had the chance to shoot it yet
