Although anything is possible, this leans towards failing the sniff test.

1 - Ive ordered hundreds of parcels and not one has been delivered w/o a plain box with prime/advertisement tape.
2 - The minimal defects on the box itself leads me to belive this was shipped inside another box.
3 - Either you received it with a return label or were OCD in placing said label to perfectly cover the original shipping label.

Not an accusation, just an observation. YMMV.

In response to your numerical post:
1. This is the 3rd time I got a package mailed in the original box like this. The first was a TV wall mount bracket. The 2nd was a pedal car for my daughter.

2. Think about the hundreds of parcels you have received. I want to say at least 70% of my parcels shipping box came to me with "minimal defects." The other 30% had crushed corners, torn side, etc.

3. I placed the return label right over shipping label. Trust me, my wife wishes I had OCD (so I am cleaner) but I had a package delivered back to me because I did not tear off original label and placed the Return label in what I thought was an obvious location (my fault, but I find tearing off labels to be cumbersome since its never a clean peel) and I left it with evening shift doorman who put it in outgoing pile, but morning doorman mistakenly put it back into the "to resident" shelf. Ever since, I try to place return label over mine.

Plus, the Sharpie writing on the side of the box is only done to the original package. FYI, this was shipped by Amazon too!!

Cancelled my amazon prime, those libs aren't getting my money or business anymore. Crazy your package came that way but I'm sure it wasn't directly from Amazon.

I kinda agree about the liberal idiots,..... But Amazon is Dillon dealer, and an RCBS dealer, and a Frankford dealer, and a Lee dealer, and they have almost all of the reloading and casting equipment that I could ever buy, for cheaper then anywhere else, and delivered within 24 hours of ordering.
I can sit home, shop, and prepare for the zombies without ever leaving the house.
It's gotten to the point that I buy shampoo and toothpaste from Amazon.

This is correct. Easy to miss if you are on autopilot purchasing items.

Amazon has smart drop box/lockers pickup locations in some Safeway and stores you can get your package delivered to a Dropbox then pickup.

I live in the Bay Area too and, unfortunately, I keep it on the down low. Its a horrible feeling knowing that someone knows what you have but you don't know who knows. It is strange it came unboxed.

The wall mount and pedal car i can understand shipping in their original box since they are big.

but this thing, a it is small enough to fit in their amazon branded boxes.

i mean i had a soft gun bag shipped inside a mostly empty amazon box that was the size of a microwave.

i'm betting someone took it out of the original box cause there wasn't room and decided to "shame" you after seeing what it was.

side note, the fact that the bar code label is cut already on the top edge shows either this was opened by that same person or you opened it, then staged this photo to try to drum up some anti-amazon feelings.

either way, i'll continue to have amazon prime and use amazon. short of bezos organizing a personal army to collect firearms from their owners, i'll keep using amazon.

I have ordered quite a few things on Amazon that came in the original box.

No, it's sold and shipped from Amazon.

Amazon is now doing this for many items to save on packaging. You need to pay attention on the final check-out screen. If they plan on shipping in the manufactures box, there will be a "Conceal Package Contents" button at the bottom of the check-out screen.

2 years ago I ordered the wife a Rhumba vacuum thing for Xmas from Amazon. Early a.m. on Dec 23 the doorbell rings and the UPS or Fed Ex guy runs off after leaving this huge box on the porch. The wife yells there's a big box on the porch.
I look and the dern thing is in a Rhumba box big as life. I sneak it in the garage.
I email Amazon and comment, not really complain but comment that it was a gift and really , the first time I had gotten anything in a non-Amazon box and I hoped the surprise wasn't ruined. My last word was "Boo!"
That's it.
Next morning, I get an apology letter for the Rhumba box and they credited my CC 15% ! On a 600.00 Rhumba !
Yeah, I like Amazon and to me, that's small potatoes. In a big complex, no one looks or cares . Of anyone did, your street cred rating jumped and ain't no one taking your parking spot again.
