Dicks can do what they want. But the same idgets applauding them for taking a stance better cool their jets when they crucify a bakery that chooses who it does and doesn't do business with.

"We retain the right to refuse service to anyone" is a sign no longer seen since the courts outlawed that.

You also never hear that old phrase, "it's a free country" either.

Yeah I agree with you OP, Dick's not selling guns is probably better for us in the long run. No serious enthusiasts shopped there anyway, they already had a crap reputation for buying guns. They lived up to their name. This should drive what little business they did get to LGS and Companies that actually support the 2A.

Dick's can't make a up a policy that discriminates the sale of merchandise based on AGE, race, gender, etc. This policy of not selling guns to anyone under 21 is illegal. Unless Dick's is following state or federal law they CANNOT restrict sales of guns to a qualified individual.

I sort of wondered about that too!

Would set a nice precedent however where a gunshop could refuse a buyer based a common sense concerns.

I mean there are certain groups who are more prone to misuse firearms than others.

As a business owner, I understand this completely. However, they should honor any business transaction that they have already committed to.
Dicks looks weak for doing this, mostly because they are going back on their word, not because they are changing their policy.
What size is your business? I grew up and spent the first 28 years of my life in Upstate NY 30 miles from the original Dicks in Binghamton. Back then they were just one hole-in-the-wall store. I bought a Ruger Security Six early 70's and a SW Model 39 around '78 from them. Even as messed up as NY's gun laws were then they were hard core pro-gun. Going conglomerate can do strange things I guess.

One more trip to Dick's. I have 10 dick bucks to spend and I'm not gonna let 'em go and reward them. The only things I have bought from them has been ammo and targets and I really don't need them for either.

Edit: I just unsubscribed to all their communications. I asked why they sold knifes with points on them as they have been used in mass murders and if they would ban cars from their parking lot after the next mass murder with a car?

I'd agree with you but then we'd both be wrong...
