The liberals are following their playbook perfectly on this one. They are marginalizing the enemy by any means they can, and to them that's the NRA. They have gotten their propaganda arm (MSM) to tell lies about the NRA long enough that to many people believe the NRA is evil.

Even though the truth is coming out, they continue to say the NRA is the problem. Let's have background checks, well we already have background checks and he passed one... but the NRA is evil. The deputy didn't engage while he was killing 17 people, we can ignore that because the NRA is evil. He had mental health issues, doesn't matter, the NRA is the problem.

We're the NRA, it's a membership organization. We're not the evil ones, despite what the MSM wants others to believe. Once they get the NRA out of the way, then they will focus directly on the individual gun owners. We will become the next target. The NRA hasn't been perfect, but it has been a very powerful voice for the millions of members and we need to show our support.

Jesus, it's like people's idea of history is what happened last Tuesday.

This has happened before. Nutter shoots up a school. Libs bash AR-15s and the NRA for a week or two; a few of the squishy RINOs say nonsense about the need for a "conversation" on guns. Then something else happens and the newscycle moves on.

Ralph Peters is a nutter--interesting dude, but a nutter. Condi Rice hasn't been relevant in a decade. Brian Mast is a no-name congressman in a swing district.

Calm down; the media will find some other shiny toy to amuse itself with.
In case it wasn't obvious, nothing I write here should be interpreted as legal advice.

We need to strike back and defend the NRA with business cutting ties with them. I've been sending email to many including Delta Air Lines, Avis, etc.

NY Times is nice enough to have a list that I've been using to send my feelings to these companies.

Only five million NRA members out of a population of 350 million, of which at least 100 million are of voting age (and not NRA members.) Between now and the election another four million kids will reach voting age. Which side of this ruckus do you think those four million are on?

These companies know this and are planning ahead.

In other words, I'm not 'worked up,' advocating surrender, or spreading anti-NRA bias. However, since I'm the 'newest' one to have posted on this thread, I can only presume (rightly or wrongly) such statements are, in part or in whole, directed at me. In which case, I'll say two things.

1.) From my perspective (one shared by a number of others based on the posts), older calgunners advocating intimidating new members or spreading denials that gun owners face any potential threats to their rights protected under the 2nd Amendment because something is posted they twist into something they disagree with are suspect. While they shouldn't be ignored, they should 'get a grip.'

Opinions are going to vary, this isn't your personal cabbage patch, and it gets old; just as 'old' as seeming 'negativity' about the situation or the NRA is for you. Yes...

We all know about the anti-civil rights trolls, the Government 'agents' which peruse this site, and the idea that it is a site dedicated to the 2nd Amendment. That doesn't mean there is or ever will be an hegemony of support for the NRA, even among members. Now, if virtually every post they make is bashing the NRA, decrying gun owners, calling for 'surrender' of certain types of firearms, etc., then I'd say you have cause to 'worry' about them on a site where such sentiment stands out. But, I should think it better to contact a Moderator than continuously hijack threads with such territorial stamping behavior if you feel such concerns are valid.

Bear in mind that, insofar as 'concern' over a given situation in the country or in the media, the question isn't whether someone is "too paranoid;" but, whether we are being paranoid enough, so that, one day, we don't wake up and go: "What happened? That's never happened before, so it couldn't have happened now? Could it? The NRA will protect us, because they were just RINO's, the Liberal media, and panicking new members on Calguns - right?" It's precisely because we DO remember (not to mention, in some cases, have lived) History that, at times, 'concern' may be expressed.

2.) Sermon over. You may now return to this thread or one of your preference.

This is not, nor has it ever been, about just the NRA. As a case in point...

He Made the Gun That Slaughtered Parkland's Kids

They're now attacking the CEO of American Outdoor Brands (Smith & Wesson) by telling you none of the following mattered...

                        • the FBI failed to act on a tip
                        • the Broward County Sheriff’s office received two tips... that Cruz had firearms and talked of committing a school shooting
                        • the Broward County Sheriff’s office also reports it received a request from Cruz’s aunt to secure his firearms, but dropped the matter after a family friend offered to take possession of the weapons
                        • the Broward County deputy assigned to Marjory Douglas Stoneman High School failed to take appropriate action when the shooting erupted
                        • other deputies may have similarly failed after they arrived
Claiming none of that had 'immediate' consequence, the assault is that had the firearm not been made and had the shooter not been able to legally obtain it, the shooting wouldn't have happened. They then include the NRA...

Remember, this isn't just about the NRA. It's an assault on our fundamental rights. Blaming the NRA, S&W, gun owners, et al. is the way they are doing it. Getting bogged down in defense of an organization or firearms or boycotts just feeds such attacks as you create a back and forth with shills and politicians/journalists/businesses who've already done their calculations in terms of audience.

If you're going to push back, then you need to do so on multiple fronts. Support the NRA. Show support for S&W. Stop bashing new members you perceive as a 'threat' rather than using this board for what it was intended as - an opportunity to inform and persuade. Get with friendly media and help them provide not only accurate information, but spun in a more enlightened way. (Take one of my above posts as an example with regard to the media claims that "Scalia said..." by getting out there what Scalia actually said.)

Nah, dude--I don't come here to get into arguments or debates and definitely not attack people. There's Twitter for that stuff. And I wasn't specifically referring to your or anybody else in my post.
