Get Enough Together and We Could Have a Problem

We all know about the companies turning on the NRA. That's a business decision.

We know Liberals will never be "our friends" when it comes to our right to keep and bear arms.

We know many judges are no longer offering solace with their decisions; something which has brought concern to several SCOTUS Justices.

But, when supposed or presumed or former or claimed 'allies' turn on you... Some might begin to feel a little put upon.

FOX News contributor, Lt. Col. Ralph Peters -

Former Army Officer Calls for Ban on Assault Weapons 'Meant to Kill Other Human Beings'

"The demagogues who grow wealthy by convincing responsible gun owners that some shadowy government agency can’t wait to seize their deer rifles will have a great deal to answer for on Judgment Day"... Peters said he doesn't expect any action from Congress, because lawmakers on both sides of the aisle are "craven." ... "They have put their reelection chances above the lives of American children," Peters lamented. "How can they live with themselves?"
Condoleeza Rice, Former Republican Secretary of State -

Condoleezza Rice calls for 'conversation' on gun rights 'in the modern world'

"I think it is time for us to have a conversation about what the right to bear arms means in the modern world," Rice told conservative radio host Hugh Hewitt. "I don’t understand why civilians need to have access to military weapons." ... "We wouldn’t, we wouldn’t say you can go out and buy a tank," she continued. "So I do think we need to have that conversation."
    Republican Representative Brian Mast -

GOP lawmaker calls for assault rifle ban

Mast, a retired staff sergeant in the Army, recalled his deployment in Afghanistan and the weapon he carried during that time, an M4 Carbine... "My rifle was very similar to the AR-15-style semiautomatic weapon used to kill students, teachers and a coach I knew at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Fla., where I once lived," wrote Mast, who holds a seat that is "leaning Republican" according to the nonpartisan Cook Political Report... "I cannot support the primary weapon I used to defend our people being used to kill children I swore to defend," he added.
People are even concerned that Donald Trump has gone 'soft' when it comes to the 2nd Amendment and things like age limits and/or bump stocks. This is especially true when he seems to be 'dictating' to the NRA when he says things like "they'll go for it" in relation to raising the age limit to 21 the day after the NRA says they are against it...

"The NRA will back it and so will Congress," Trump contended as he called for raising the legal age of purchase for "all" guns from 18 to 21. A spokesman later said Trump was speaking specifically about semi-automatic weapons. The president's proposal came just hours after the NRA affirmed its opposition, calling such a restriction an infringement on gun owners' rights.
It's even brought a comment by someone (ahem) named... Brandon Combs (Wildhawker on Calguns)...

"If there was an art of the deal, then this would be a deal breaker," said Brandon Combs, president of the California-based Firearms Policy Coalition, making a reference to the title of Trump's 1987 book on business. The coalition said in a statement Tuesday that it would take legal action if necessary to resist Trump's "outrageous lawlessness." ... "Gun owners have been burned too many times over the years," Combs said. "Politicians do whatever they want when they get into office."
Call 'em RINO's if you want. Convince yourself that it's just the media. Defend Trump or remind people he's always been a bit of a question mark with regard to how 'strong' he is on firearms.

But, if you get enough of these people siding against us, in combination with the anti-civil rights elements, we could have a problem.

The winds are changing and it's not looking good for the pro-gun side. And there'll be those that have their head in the sand and say there's nothing to worry about, put away tinfoil hats.

That is why I support the NRA, despite all the sniping about them I see here.
It's the power of five million members.

I just posted this quote in another thread, but it is pertinent here.

I'm thinking when we fight back via NRA there will be lots of democrats losing elections!

Those who are abandoning RKBA were always against us anyway! That's why rent a car people fawned over flunky AARP!

Wait for the truth about 4 cops watching this murderer while crouching behind engine blocks !
Watch the public when they figure out these same guys are supposed to protect the public!
Look at how many red flags this guy put out and how many times our protectors dropped the ball! Hell they didn't drop the ball! They vomited over the rule book and discarded it !

Right now we have a President who is 100 % loyal to RKBA. It's time to give him our prayers and complete support !

Any one who says different is some kind of 5 th column plant or so someone so easily led by big media they are USELESS !

It should be 50 million. Then we'd have pull.

You DO have a problem, starting with the attacks launched by La Pierre at CPAC and Loesch on CNN. I know those speeches appealed to some of you but I'll bet they put off ten people for every one who found their message compelling. I thought they were cold, heartless and insulting. I wonder if La Pierre and Loesch would be saying the same things if one of their family members had been a victim?

2A rights are safe to the extent they allow people to keep rifles and handguns for self defense and for hunting unless a future court overturns Heller. I would not expect a constitutional amendment that strikes down 2A to get much traction. But in the same decision where Scalia reaffirmed the right to keep and bear arms for self defense, he also said no right is unrestricted. You might want to keep that in mind because a lot of people are pretty angry right now.

At the end of the day, we have the guns. Not sure why any of us are scared.

Either you are willing to lay down your life for your rights and freedoms or you are not. No one will force you one way or the other.

Just don't complain if you lay down your gun and lose the rest of your rights in the process.

Says the liberal democrat hypocrite who doesn't belong to the NRA and voted for Hillary as well as the democrats in Sacramento. Have you gotten rid of all your guns yet? Probably voted for prop 47 and 57 too. ....

I saw Lt. Col. Ralph Peters on FOX today. He called for a total ban on AR-15's.

Then this mensa began on the 2nd amendment. He said if you take it literally (in 21st century English he forgot) it says you have the right to bear arms, not firearms. Perhaps he though we have the right to wear summer clothing?

I turned it off. I expect he then said the Founders intended for us to be able to collect black bear limbs.

Did this guy ever swear to uphold the constitution?

Some media outlets seem to agree with you...

The NRA used to be much more bipartisan. Now it's mostly just a wing of the GOP

Of course, that one causes one to ask: "Did the NRA leave Democrats or have Democrats left certain civil rights behind?"

But in the same decision where Scalia reaffirmed the right to keep and bear arms for self defense, he also said no right is unrestricted. You might want to keep that in mind because a lot of people are pretty angry right now.
Did you read the article in the first link of the OP?

...Some judges have pointed to Scalia's own words in Heller: "The right secured by the 2nd Amendment is not unlimited." ... In December 2015, Scalia joined a dissent from denial penned by Thomas in a case concerning a Chicago suburb's ban on some semi automatic firearms and magazines. The two justices criticized the lower court's "crabbed" reading of Heller...
I believe that would be the Friedman v. Highland Park, Illinois case.

The full quote would be: "Based on its crabbed reading of Heller, the Seventh Circuit felt free to adopt a test for assessing firearm bans that eviscerates many of the protections recognized in Heller and McDonald."

You might wish to take notice of what follows, especially the part I placed in bold.

[i] If a broad ban on firearms can be upheld based on conjecture that the public might feel safer (while being no safer at all), then the Second Amendment guarantees nothing.

I saw where Trump asked at CPAC which they'd rather have, the tax return or the 2nd Amendment.

If he listens to the crowd, we're good... for now.

The problem is, we have to hope that he listens to his base, now and in the future. Bear in mind that...

If he's more popular than the NRA, he may feel it 'safe' to (ahem) 'stand up to them' on some things the NRA and its membership might disagree with.
