I only own 9 handguns and 5 rifles, so I will be keeping them when I move. Well, I might sell the CA. version of the MK25 and buy a non-CA one, but seriously, if you own the guns now, its probably because you like them so why sell just to make a few bucks and re-buy them out of state ? The money you might make just won't be enough to be worth the hassle.

I do agree on the safe though, sell it and buy a bigger one in the new state, your current safe is probably too small already anyway.

Sadly, it isn't about the inconvenience. It is actually about paying it forward and helping each other out by keeping off roster guns in the hands of California Citizens.

Over the years I have had several of my firearms fall off the handgun roster. When I move out of this state, I plan to sell my stuff so that others can enjoy it.

            Sell them here for sure.

My friend who owns a nice collection has said on multiple occasions, that he'd sell every single firearm here just so they stay in the state.

Better yet, consign them with your favorite FFL so that he gets your support to stay in business.

when I retire and move back home to the United States, I'm taking all hundred or so of my guns with me, every single one..

you silly Californians know you're not supposed to own guns here
I started out with nothing - and I still have most of it

Many off-roster handguns can be sold for more in CA than their replacement value in free states.
Definitely sell those and anything else with an artificially high CA value. You can always replace these later if you wish.
Sell the stuff you aren't fond of if you can get a decent price but don't let anybody low-ball you.

He owes nothing to any of us so there's no reason to sell just to keep the gun in Commiefornia. Unless he can sell for more than the replacement value where he's going or he doesn't really want the gun anymore.

One can usually get the better prices right after a mass shooting.

Sell for a premium here. Buy cooler stuff when you move.

Sell before you leave CA. As others have said, you'll get more for them there. Just remember, you can only sell a max of 5 handguns within a calendar year (CA law).

I tried to sell all that I could before I left toward the end of last year. Both to get as much as I could for them, and to leave behind, what I could easily replace if I wanted. Then I sold some that I no longer wanted, in my new state. What a shocker. I was lucky to get half of what I could have gotten in CA.

Don't assume gun laws in other states will remain static.

I wonder if you could sell commiefornia compliant guns (with LCI, etc) at a premium in a free state because they’re more rare. Ohhhhh look at that shield that doesn’t fire with the mag removed and with the neat day glow orange shark fin!!! I’ll give you $1,000 for it!
