Clay targets do not readily degrade in much of the BLM land in CA. If there isn't sufficient rain those clay chunks will hang out for a VERY long time. Potatoes are more readily biodegradable.

Amen It takes lots of rain to essentially erode clay pigeon debris.

Maybe someone can give me a few tips on where I can find a good spot in San Luis Obispo County.

Clay targets are biodegradable and they're perfect for something to shoot at that breaks up.

I am to lazy to find it right now, but I believe you are no longer allowed to shoot clays on BLM property.

My last trip to BLM Land didn’t go so well and I was glad to get out alive. I went to a place in South Central Los Angeles, stopping first at a Korean market to get some beer. Immediately after leaving the store, the local wildlife converged on me and wanted to know what I was doing at “their” local hangout. It rapidly became clear that doing a little camping and hunting wasn’t going to happen (I didn’t have a long pig tag). I ran to my car screaming like a little girl and headed back up the coast where we don’t have any BLM Land. Maybe someone can give me a few tips on where I can find a good spot in San Luis Obispo County.

Don’t give up – maybe try Oakland (a.k.a. Black Lives Matter Land North) … no need to bring your own guns and ammo, since both are readily available for purchase from the locals, no questions asked. Airbnb's available in Frisco.

I don't know of any BB's outside of Borego Springs. If I had $ to blow I'd stay at Casa del Zorro. Instead I sleep in the back of my Jeep.

Fruit, veggies, canned drinks all make great reactive targets. Pick up the cans but the potato, oranges etc targets can stay and feed the desert.

There are some pretty nice BLM spots along Highway 50 between Fallon and the Utah State border. Keep an eye open for the distinctive BLM cattle guards off the side of the highway. Just drive out in one of the many wide open valleys. You can see for miles so you can avoid shooting at someone's isolated ranch.

Get yourself a couple of BLM or National Forest Service maps. I've had good luck calling the local BLM and NFS offices to ask questions. I think that people are generally more tolerant of shooting when you're in Nevada.

Diet Pepsi cans make great reactive targets. Use diet to avoid the sticky, sugary mess when you bag them all up for transport. The can thrower stands to one side and a little behind the shooter. It's a good idea to practice the can throwing, gun handling moves with a few dry fires, to get it all safely coordinated.

Pick up every bit of trash, including shotgun hulls and brass. If there are signs of previous shooters, leave the place cleaner than when you found it.
