I would say get a shotgun and an AK. AK's are beautiful simplicity, and very effective on critters 2 and 4 legged. Anyone says AK's arent accurate has never put one through it paces.
AR's will be more accurate by design, and should recoil less(depends on configuration) one thing that is cool is the ability to change calibers quickly and the abundence of parts.
