    New Gun Advice???

Hi, my name is gabe, this is my first post on this forum. So anyway i'm turning 18 in 7 months so i'm gona get me a long gun. I was lookin at the bushmaster M4 post ban or a remington tactical. I'd like it for recreational/home defense and amybe some hunting. Any recommendations would be appreciated. Price is not a restriction because i have a while to save.
    Thank You

You will need to determine the main purpose of the rifle, primarily hunting? For what types of animals? For home defense? For me, M-1A Socom or Scout will fit the bill nicely. However, I like shooting SKS also. It will be okay to use for both purposes.

sounds like you already know what you want......word of advice from an "old timer" who has made a lot of mistakes.......buy all of your firearms cash.......you don't want to end up broke and paying off credit cards.....lesson learned from yours truly......as for your first long gun....how about a "tacticool" shotgun....

Oh didnt know, you were interested in an M1A: one of the finest rifles in existence. If you can find one... BUY IT! Waccaville gets them every once in a while. That is where I got mine.

Bushmaster is a typically a no-go in CA, the XM-15 is considered a listed 'assault weapon'.

If you want to own a CA legal AR-15 you should learn why certain models are legal and others are not legal. Read the flow chart (both pages) and this Sacramento PD training bulletin.

If you want to end up with a rifle similar to an M4 carbine there are a ton of options. AR-15 style rifles are like legos, they're easy to configure however you'd like. You can buy them completely assembled, partially assembled, or every single component separately.
