I like gunshows and the idea of gunshows.
Its distressing to see the same complainers, crybabys and cheapskates on every gunshow thread!

For me its simple if you don't like a show don't go instead of trying to ruin it for everyone else.
My advice is go, meet new people see old friends and buy items you would buy anyway even if its not gun related. About every year I throw out all work socks and buy new ones. Whats wrong with supporting those people?

For the literate types gun shows offer a lot of books written for those who love to read!

It was at the Orange County GS a lady told me about the Bracken trilogy which made for some great entertainment .
On another instance I bought a rare book written by a MD on the Mc Kinley murder. He went into great detail about the anarchist murderer and the skank Emma Goldman who so inflamed this easily led liberal dimwit!

Just saying its a swap meet that also carries items all shooters use. When gunshows are gone because of threads like this, we will have lost another venue where free people can get together.

    just my 2 cents!

      Fair enough.

      Good points.

I imagine everyone is lamenting what "used to be." Not really the fault of the vendors, though.

So you're going to the gunshow to buy socks and books? Probably why the crap show still exists. You should just go to the swapmeet next door.

Correct and we can thank Los Angeles County voters for electing Zev (the Russian commie) Zaroslavsky. Yvonne (the dimwit ) Burke and very stupid Gloria Molina for closing down the GWGS which brought in (1994) dollars 14 million a year into LA county.

Also consider all the entertainment, hotels, resturants etc and the money lost is even more.

Not sure of others but I have never set foot on the fairgrounds since they closed the show. Although Ive been tempted by car, boat,RV shows and of course the county fair.

I understand LACF now have a body art expo. wonder how much that brings in ?

No the other products exist because people like you will chisel every vendor down to the last penny and walk if they cannot beat an internet price!

BTW most gun culture people are avid readers. People who own guns, not so much. I would lay odds you have not read one book on the recommended list available on this forum!

The internet has made gun shows obsolete. It has been that way for 20 years.

One reason for gun shows having vendors selling items that are not gun related is because they have been a family event for some people.

The late Mrs JA308 and our child always loved the shows even the Orange County event where Mrs JA would browse gold, silver and rare coins.

JAs daughter loved buying the frilly items and jewelry that was available.

Yes my daughter was always told that a lady carrying the ammo was a sure fire way to be a dude magnet!

Im beginning to feel a little sorry for some of the folks commenting negatively on GS as you're attitudes are cheating you of a fun experience.

BTW I have ZERO knowledge of what a trader is . Is this the reason so many negative comments, because traders cannot make any money selling guns ?

I probably have attended more shows than the vast amount of members here and in many states and even I have tapered off my visits I no longer do most of the smaller CA shows like Victorville and San Bernardino they are total disasters now.
Better than sitting on the couch. I have found rare off roster bargains at shows. And living in Bakersfield going to the Ventura show in summer was a treat. I always find something worth buying but I go with a open mind and no high expectations.

Don't go and continue to spread the hate, Anti gunners love having you do their work for them. They would love to have shows gone.

I don't have to do any work nor do the anti gunners. Greedy promoters and substandard vendors will do that. As well as the internet.

People aren't generally as willing anymore to travel and pay to see overpriced guns when they can just go do so at local gun stores for free.

And yes this is the case in other states but not as bad due to their laws making a show make a bit more sense to attend.

Really these threads don't even need to happen. Everyone needs to attend a show or two and make a judgement call and for the vast amount of people they will see it is probably not worth it.

Actually I hope people keep throwing their money away and attending as it keeps the shows open longer and in my more unique case it makes sense for me to attend some of the bigger shows.

I do agree I'd much rather waste time and money on a gun show than a sporting event or the movies.
