OK, technically many adults in Riverside can get a permit, but it is not easy or quick. How many in person visits, during normal working hours, are needed to complete their process? Why can't some of the work be done by non sworn personnel like in other counties? What ever the reason, I'm just stating that the Riverside process discourages people to apply, and does not seem to be ccw friendly to me.
LA??
San Diego?http://www.sandiegouniontribune.com/...104-story.html
Many of the requirements of unfriendly counties are way above state mandates.
Think how many permits would be issued if the counties went with just the required state mandate, which in itself is quite a process, in a timely manner, at a reasonable cost. That would constitute friendly to me.
Technically and practically are not the same.

Riversides issues have nothing to do with the Sheriffs 2A stance and everything to do with the lack of funding in their budget. Stan Sniff is very pro 2A. They can't afford to hire enough officers to meet their bare patrol requirements, so the CCW unit is staffed at the bare minimum.
Follow either link in my sig and you will find a table with the best numbers available to the public. Roughly 44% of eligible adults in CA can get a permit if they want one. The reality is many do not want one regardless of their ability to get one. That 44% is about 12 million people, yet there are less than 100,000 active permits statewide. The demand isn't really there, for any number of reasons. If SD continues down the path of loosening their GC requirement the number will shift to something like 52% eligibility.I made a brief internet search to find a list of permits issued by county, and I couldn't find anything current. Anyone help here?
I think this would be the best info to actually see who issues.
A lot of sheriffs also play numbers games. Increased number of permits by 50%, etc.? So he went from 2 to 3?
In reality, most Californians cannot get a ccw where they currently live. I think LA county has less than 1,000 permits for a population of about 4 million.
San Diego probably has about the same percentage.

Now you are talking specifics. So, I'll clear those two locations up for you. California does not require additional training to carry at the state capitol but, in 2012, California did pass a law to which has additional requirements (obtaining two letters of permission) to carry at the Capitol. Before that, there were no additional requirements. As far as carrying in bars go, there is no state law forbidding it but, there is a stipulation about bars on the application. Until case law makes it clear, we are not positive if we can or can't legally carry in bars. But, we sure don't require additional training to carry in many other GFZs like other government building, public meetings, hospitals, etc.I apologise for not knowing that California res can carry in the state capital and bars with out any extra training which is what Ark is requiring , thanks for clearing that up .As far as news flash I'm pretty sure that was your words not mine . Also thanks for pointing out that most states already allow CCW to carry in their state capital and bars as after all that is the gfz Ark is issuing permits for .I guess you are right ,I do need to learn more about CCW and should be thankful you straightened me out .

There are some facts being presented here, that may well be technically true, but are not in reality true. Riverside going green?
As far as I know, per personal knowledge of recent family permit application, the sheriff advertises that he is very gun friendly and that 90%+ of the applicants get a permit. But if you call down there and talk to the 1 deputy that handles all the ccw's, he will set up a appointment that is 1-2 yrs down the road, at which time most people give up. Then there is a very restrictive process that may very well take another year or more.

I understand that most counties are liberal in CCW issuance. But until the entire state is the same way, Commiefornia has a long way to go.Leave a comment:

I don't think so. Anyway, again, I will continue to say that based on the title of the thread, there isn't any "news flash". While I used one example, California, to make my point, the fact is that in almost every or possibly in every state that issues CCWs, the CCW allows people to carry in otherwise restricted areas like certain GFZs. No "extra training" is required to CCW in many GFZs as long as you have a valid CCW which is recognized by the state you are in at the time. I sure don't see ehaving to take a secondary class to carry in more places a good thing. It's good that AR is finally doing something to help CCWers but, they could have easily done a lot more by simply changing their state laws/CCW policies and not requiring one to spend additional time and money to carry in a few extra GFS.

If you were to get an adult to read previous posts you would see exactly what I'm saying and apologize but I really don't see that happening .Do you realize how stupid you look calling me condescending when you are basing your opinions on what others are posting and are too lazy to go back and read from the beginning or too stupid to understand .I know a lot of people in and from California and in no way judge them by your ignorance Nor arognance .I repeat people like you and CS who pick fights with your allies are part of the problem . I'm on your side but you bash me and praise the jerk talking out of both sides of his mouth ! I do enjoy a good debate but this is a pig pen wrestling match and I refuse to wrestle with pigs so you and your kind go ahead and have the last word and remove any doubt anyone might have that you are condescending and obnoxious idiots too stupid to have a thought of your own . For the rest of my Cal gun friends keep up the fight and we are rooting for you.

Again I'm not Dude and I never said California did not "allow" some residents cc, as a matter of fact I'm the original poster and it was not even about California laws it was about another state (Ark.) becoming more gun/ CCW friendly . CSACAN could have said "good I wish we were winning the battle against anti gun nuts " but instead said NewsFlash" like it wasn't a big deal and Cali was pretty lenient also . The glimmer of hope is most people responding here gets my point and is not a CSACAN groupee and are intelegent enough not to call people Dude . California gun laws suck and will until people like you and CS realize it . You sir are part of the problem ,complacency is acceptenc .

Duddett? Really ? I did not start offending arguing or criticizing anyone , CS was being childish and insulting and stated people of good morals could get CCW and then went on to say I lacked training and probably shouldn't be allowed to carry and now you are taking up for the Nancy / Biden sounding jerk and insulting the one on your side !!! I know it's not everyone in California who wants rediculas gun laws but seriously go back and read from the beginning of the posts.Duddette, we're not complacent. We just know when to fight and when not to.
Right now, we're fighting in San Diego County, which alone has a greater population than the entire state of Arkansas! Sheriff Gore, over the past several months, has gone from extremely restrictively issuing CCWs to more reasonably issuing them. Does he accept self defense as Good Cause? No. Does he accept nominal Good Cause? We can't say yet, but LOTS of folks are reporting back that they are getting issued.
And you can't blame the many CGNers who've been beaten into submission after years or even decades of fighting for their rights without much to show for it. Hopefully, if Trump gets to put 2 or more justices on SCOTUS we in CA and the other 7 May Issue states will have something significant to cheer about.
