LtCol Cooper wasn't just a "cool guy" who ran a range down in AZ and had a column in Guns & Ammo.

Most everyone who knows anything about firearms and shooting knows who Colonel Jeff Cooper was. The depth of his contributions to the shooting world run far deeper than many people will ever realize.

You could stand to look beyond what you might have read in a Guns & Ammo column and try to get it through your skull who this man was.

Ever heard of the phrase "Standing on the shoulders of giants."? If you're not familiar with it, I suggest you look it up and attempt to understand how (and why) it applies to the man you're so flippantly commenting about.

Jeff Cooper did more for the sport of shooting and had so much more knowledge of firearms and the use there of then any one I can thnk of in recent times The only ones I can think of are his contemporaries who have gone before him, Elmer Keith, Skeeter Skelton and such.

Hunting, defense, sport shooting, Cooper knew them all and passed on what he knew.

There are a few aspects of the Col.'s teaching that I disagree with but in no way does that lessen my respect for the man. One of the things our society seems to have forgotten is that you can disagree without disrespect.

I had the great fortune to have trained under him at Gunsite "Orange" on three ocassions. We lost a true warrior Monday. RIP
