If you are claiming you shot someone in self defense you meant the pull the trigger, modified or not. After all these years of this FUD being repeated, I've yet to see a single self-defense case where this was an issue.

This is different from law enforcement where LEO's might be holding someone at gun point.

The Apex carry kit is 80ish bux.

Mine has been 100% reliable and is very accurate.

I had two close friends (22yo girls) buy Shields for their Riverside CCW's and spent a week with them at the range before their quals. They each shot about 900 rounds through them in 4 days. The first 2 days were rough, one was printing about 7-10" low, the other about 4-5" low right (they are both left handed btw). By the last day, they were both printing on a 3" paster at 7y.

They scored 100% on their quals while many people flunked with full size guns.

The only thing they really complained about was loading mags, I made them do it by hand.

Yes, Shields are harder to shoot than a Glock 19. But with anything new, you need to train with it. When I first got my 43, I was no where near as accurate as my Shield. I still need to get my 43 stippled, it jumps around in my big hands too much.

I actually LOVE the grip and how slim it is. I have medium size hands and not thick fingers. But the problem I face is - I can't put the pad of my trigger finger on the trigger - if I do, the gun moves a little when the shot goes off. This happens during dry firing also. However, if I use the middle pad of the trigger finger (literally wrapped around the trigger) then I can pull the trigger smoothly without moving the gun. But that's a bad habit, right?

I also feel safer pocket carrying it with the long DA trigger

i bought my shield because of the reviews and my brothers experience owning one. I can't seem to print on paper with it. Granted this is my first subcompact pistol. I mostly shoot larger pistols. I just don't understand it. My brother who is a first time shooter shoots better with the shield than a full size pistol.

I'm sure it's me. Just not sure if i want to invest spending the money on ammo to learn shooting it at this point. If i ever get my CCW i can always carry my g19.

If you think a Shield is bad, try a G43. The recoil pulse of both is gonna hurt less than a knife to the gut though.
Huh? I do not find the 43 bad at all...its recoil is on par with a Kahr PM9/CM9. You must be doing something funky with your grip.

One solution is to buy a box of Garrett 44 Magnum 300 grain ammo or Remington UMC 180’s. Go find a Ruger Alaskan or 629 3” and shoot six rounds out of it. Then pick up the 43 and continue shooting. You won’t feel a thing through your numb wrists.

THIS is so true. My P238 is one of my favorite guns to shoot.

Shield was just okay. Sold mine a couple years ago.

There's nothing I like about the Shield. CCW a small, single, gritty trigger, what are you wearing Daisy Dukes ?

Im strictly comparing the Shield to the 43 as I own both and have shot them back to back. Because the Shield is a little bigger and heavier, I find that the 43 has a sharper recoil pulse than the Shield. I hold them the same and can stack rounds with both at 7y.

Problem is with your grip and trigger control. I had a similar problem when I first shot sub-compact.

From years of shooting full sized guns I developed a lazy grip with some bad habits on top. I could stills shoot my F/S guns flawlessly. When I bought my first sub-compact I hated it. Couldn't consistently hit paper. So I asked the RO at my local range to give it to the smith as it was obviously broken.

RO shrugged, kind of smiled and asked if he could try it. Bas**rd proceeded to blow the center out of the target at 15 yrds.

Boy was I embarrassed. I private lesson with his and he had me all cleaned up. Now I shoot it as well as he does

POINT BEING, anyone experiencing trouble shooting sub-compacts accurately should take a lesson with a qualified instructor. Sub-compacts can amplify all our bad habits. They see it all the time and can straighten you out fast.

SoCal, baby....75 degrees for Xmas and New Years . I think I wore a jacket 2 days in 2017.

If I had to shoot in self-defense, my finger wouldn't know a CGW trigger from an Apex'ed one or a gritty one. Enuff with the trigger snobbery in a self-defense situation, save that for competition
