It was easy for me. The Shield is the most awkward feeling with one of the nastiest trigger of any pistols I have ever shot.
I don't drink Kool-aid, so I didn't get caught up in the Calgun Bullrush.

I did, however, get me a Springfield XDS 3.3 45ACP.
That thing rocks! The only issue is the name, "Springfield".
Other than that, it beats the Shield or any Glock sub compact you got.

Does that have a Grip Zone?

No "Grip Zone" on mine. I tried the rubber wrap but it simply rotates as you shoot. Not very comforting.
The stock XDS Grip looks like a knobby tire off a dirt bike.
Although it does hit hard, I will usually feel stress in my elbow before my hand starts gets uncomfortable.
But hey, CCs aren't really meant to hold off an army. They are meant to get you out of a jam.

          I like mine.

The trigger isn’t a 1911 but is really acceptable. I painted the front sight and widened the rear sight notch by .004” It has really helped with proper sight acquisition.

When XS introduces their F8 sights for the Shield I’m putting a set on.

It took a bit to figure the proper grip out and once I got my strong hand thumb high enough I was able to get the heel of the support hand palm on the grip in a suitable fashion.

The only real complaint I have is not every mag falls from the gun when released, I have to swipe some out.

The obvious benefits as an EDC piece have made it worth the commitment to learn how to be skilled with it, I hope t be at any rate.

My conclusion is it is not as natural to shoot easily like my 1911’s but it is still a very capable gun with no limits to its diet thus far, it swallows everything I can throw at it.

            Arthritis

Arthritis for Me. Loved mine . Finger is Bending, so I catch the Skin Underneath the Trigger. Tried an Apex Trigger but could not pull the Safety for the same reason. so now I'm all 1911s. I think In still have 5 Shield Mags somewhere.

I saw the rebate plus the sale that turners had and I still didn't buy one.

I hate the articulated trigger! And I don't see a point in buying one with the intention of spending more on a replacement trigger.

It's weird but I shoot more accurately with my Shield 9mm with stock trigger than I do with my full-size M&P 9 4.25" with Apex FSS & trigger.

The Ca versions are worthless. Can’t load a round in one at a time, can’t fire without the magazine...I shot one of those and attempted to drop single bullets in (with the magazine in), and the slide won’t close on a single bullet dropped into the chamber - even with an empty mag in.

The Ca version is dangerous and I would not keep one for any reason without removing the mag disconnect.

Also on the Ca one, to disassemble you have to get a tool down into the magwell and flip a lever. Retarded.
FYI, Thats bad form and you shouldn't do that anyway. Bullets normally ride up and under the extractor claw. Forcing the claw to jump over the rim can damage the extractor.

I love my shield - its in 40 S&W and I wished I got it in 9mm as it has some kick. But, all my other firearms are 40 and I reload 40 and so on and on. Why do I love it = its slim, its small and it shoots straight. I like to conceal this weapon over a glock 23 or other firearms on my list. I dont alter my clothes to CCW (Buy bigger pants, buy a bigger belt, etc) and it fits in all my current wardrobe which is my main reason for liking it. In all honesty, I dont carry any other of my firearms due to how comfortable the shield is. I have attempted to, but its just not as comfy.

If you find a deal on marketplace, and you dont own one, I wouldnt hesitate to purchase one. I would recommend the 9mm though.
Lone wolf makes a conversion barrel, but its on the spendy side (considering how cheap the shield is in the first place)

I am about to sell mine. Put night sights and a grip sleeve on it (Hogue). The grip sleeve helped a bunch with ergos, but the thing still sucks to shoot.

I put a Glock 19 on my permit instead when I renewed.

The trigger sucks, and with the Apex setup costing about half what the gun does, and no way to get even close to that back in resale, I am dumping it.

I wish I could get a Walther PPS in this godforsaken place.

Mine is a very reliable shooter and eats anything I feed it. Would not carry it in the CA configuration. Would not modify it for carry either for obvious reasons. A perfectly good firearm somewhat neutered by the small safety, mag disconnect and lci bs. Still, not a bad gun just have better ones for carry.

                          Your mileage may differ.

                            2. Many owners want a better trigger, but if they got them for CCW some agencies won't allow a trigger modification.
                            3. Many bought their Shield in .40 caliber, which is a beast.
Switching triggers may be a question you'd have to answer in the court too, if you ever needed it for SD. The prosecution will try to find anything when related to guns.. Besides, I like the stock look of the gun. I bought a grip wrap, which I still haven't used. I would prefer the stock look & trigger, but honestly, a good gunsmith could polish the internals and smooth out the extra non-sense.

I thought people use CCW for Self defense. Is there a reason why you feel "other" guns are more suitable for CCW in CA, but Shield is more suitable outside of CA?

I keep seeing this posted in various threads but I've never actually heard of this happening in a ccw self defense case. Any examples or cases you know of that this came up in court?

I never knew that, I do it with my XDm when I'm going slow and practicing my trigger pull and shooting form.
Guess I won't be doing that anymore.
