I own a G43. It shoots very smoothly. I was actually surprised my first time shooting it.

My .40 SW is a sweet shooter. I qualified with mines and CCW every day with it. I also have a Glock 29sf 10mm on my permit and have qualified with that as well so relatively speaking....the .40 shield is a light recoil.

Got mine SSE when it first came out. It is one awesome ccw. So accurate it blows my mind.

The Ca versions are worthless. Can’t load a round in one at a time, can’t fire without the magazine...I shot one of those and attempted to drop single bullets in (with the magazine in), and the slide won’t close on a single bullet dropped into the chamber - even with an empty mag in.

The Ca version is dangerous and I would not keep one for any reason without removing the mag disconnect.

Also on the Ca one, to disassemble you have to get a tool down into the magwell and flip a lever. Retarded.

+1 I have one on my CCW, it shoots great. It never ceases to amaze me the number of grown men that whine about recoil on a subcompact 9mm. "Oh it's a lot snappier and sharp than my Beretta 92!" Yeah, no chit Sherlock. It's not like you're shooting matches with the thing, hit the f'm gym and quit whimpering jeeeeze.

I put 50-100 rounds through my G43 pretty much every time I go to the range. I don't shoot it quite as well as my G19 but it wasn't designed as a combat pistol and neither was the Shield. Of course it's not the most fun at the range, it wasn't meant to be... My Jeep isn't very much fun at the drag strip either.

I don't know that I'd describe a G43 as smooth. I have one too. I've owned my Shield since they came out. Because its heavier, it shoots a little softer than the 43 IMO.

Guns fit peoples hands differently though. I run either the Med or Lg backstraps on my Gen 4's so it's a little harder for me to get a comfortable grip on smaller guns.

I can still stack rounds with them.

ALL Shields have the sear disconnect lever btw. You don't have to use it though. All you need to do is pull the trigger like a Glock when removing the slide.

It's a CCW gun. CCW's are hard to come by, nearly impossble around here.

I suspect many are for sale after the rejections.

I've seen them on sale for under $250 new by gun vendors. I am not aware of a rebate. I got mine at FULL Price of $400. I needed to get it to get it out of my system - I think a lot of people are compulsive like that about Sheild. It is a pretty gun, and feels good to handle.

                BUT.......

I have 2 issues with it. #1 - the trigger assembly is as bad as it gets. I doubt any gun has a trigger worse than this. OH, it goes bang each time, but very gritty...almost like you have to "pull" to make an effort, which moves the gun a bit right after you pull the trigger - even during dry fire. And the notch in the trigger "bites" the finger after a while. So the trigger, springs, and related parts should be upgraded.

2nd things I hate is magazines don't sit flush with the gun at the bottom - there's always a bit sticking out. Also, when loading a mag, you have to PRESS it in, or slam it hard. Not sure if it's the springs, etc. My P226 mags go in like butter, with very little effort.

I bought it for CCW too. Hope to apply someday, when they are handing them out in Alameda County (which I understand is very hard to get)

BTW, G19 is more on sale here than the Sheild.

I have two good friends that bought Shields last month and I had them buy Apex triggers in anticipation of this problem (my early production Shield sounds similar to yours when it was new). Anyway, their Shield factory triggers were very nice, and the Apex duty/carry kit was barely an upgrade.

                      My $0.02.

I love my shield - its in 40 S&W and I wished I got it in 9mm as it has some kick. But, all my other firearms are 40 and I reload 40 and so on and on. Why do I love it = its slim, its small and it shoots straight. I like to conceal this weapon over a glock 23 or other firearms on my list. I dont alter my clothes to CCW (Buy bigger pants, buy a bigger belt, etc) and it fits in all my current wardrobe which is my main reason for liking it. In all honesty, I dont carry any other of my firearms due to how comfortable the shield is. I have attempted to, but its just not as comfy.

If you find a deal on marketplace, and you dont own one, I wouldnt hesitate to purchase one. I would recommend the 9mm though.

                        1. A lot having been sold the used market is greater
                        2. Many owners want a better trigger, but if they got them for CCW some agencies won't allow a trigger modification.
                        3. Many bought their Shield in .40 caliber, which is a beast.

I got my shield in 40, got a 9mm converson barrel, removed the magazine disconnect, replaced the LCI with a flush part and added night sights. I use it for out of state CCW as I have others for in state.

i have to say the 2 other Ca shields I attempted to disassemble did not drop the slide by pulling the trigger. Mine does.

That is because of the Mag Disconnect. All of the nanny features working against you, but you can insert a mag temporarily to defeat the disconnect and the drop the mag before pushing the slide off.

My main point was that even NON-CA Shields have that same sear disconnect lever.

Kahr PM9 is a softer shooter.
