these stores under-estimate the propensity of people to just say F It to the law and buy from out of state and bring it back. or asking buddies to sell them ammo, or making friends with 03FFL holders and have them order ammo for them online like normal.

there might be a small uptick in ammo sales locally but it won't be a rocket ship of increased sales.

Maybe it's just a coincidence or maybe Walmart's anticipating selling less in California now?
I bought a bunch of Federal .22 at Walmart in Willows this week. They have had no word on the new laws, no new background check machinery, no training. They say business as usual until told otherwise. Lots of ammo in stock.

I went to Dick's, Walmart, Academy Sports, Cabella's, Gander Mountain and a few mom and pop shops and found the shelves full of ammo. And I found several low rail AR lowers for dang good prices.

Maybe you should tell them all about it on Kanguns.net.

Actually, the new law requires it to no longer be accessible by the public. So either in a locked case like paints are, or behind the counter.

An ammunition vendor shall not sell or otherwise transfer ownership of, offer for sale or otherwise offer to transfer ownership of, or display for sale or display for transfer of ownership of any ammunition in a manner that allows that ammunition to be accessible to a purchaser or transferee without the assistance of the vendor or an employee of the vendor.
