    Gun safe moving woes...

Dagnabit. Me and my son are unable to bring this Amsec safe up 3 little steps.

We got it moving, but I stopped it as we were at the edges of our strength. Didnt wanna risk an accident. Not sure if its the tiny wheels of the refrigerator dolly, or the sticky stair assist belt system.

Greased up the belts and waiting on a third guy. Grrrr. Makes me think I shoulda paid the 100 to bring it up the steps.

You can do it with a third person. Then hide it well and thank yourself that the delivery guys don't know where it is. Many a story about thefts by delivery people.

Take the door off. do you have a large piece of carpet you can lay over the steps? If so, lay the safe on its back and slide it up the carpeted steps.

I rented one of these for a 1000lb safe lifting job that had only 4 stairs and a threshold to get over.
Only took 2 guys and one was just there for balance and support.
The climber made short work of the job and the safe was nearly 6' tall.
            Good luck with the move...

The guy who delivered and moved my safes . Said taking the door off is a big mistake it is most likely the heavier part of the safe and once off it is very awkward to put back on . A safe is a large, heavy awkward box. Most people cant deal with moving a 150 lb refrigerator let alone a 600 plus lb safe.

I've moved my safe three times, always took the door off and put it back on. Definitely NOT a mistake...

Get a piece of plywood or some 2x4’s ,lay it across the steps , lay the safe sideways on its thinnest side and push safe up plywood or wood from the bottom . You can lay an old blanket or moving blanket to prevent scratches
Old problems are like dry poop, if you let the dry poop sit it doesn't smell but the minute you decide to stir the poop with a stick, the smell comes back. Moral of the story, Don't bring up old problems!

Or if possible back up the trailer you brought the safe in to the top step that way you unload the safe at the top step already. Granted you brought the safe home on a trailer .

Take off door and slide it on moving blankets you'll be surprised how easy it will slide.

Safe moving is always fun. Mine is over 600 too. When I first moved it I used a Rick (my 325lb uncle). It made it really easy. I've had many adventures since. Usually 2 guys can do it. (I'm usually about 270 myself). Steps are almost as much of a ***** as a steep driveway.

Whatever you do, ramp, different dolly etc, do not let anyone be on the bottom end!!! I was moving mine out of my mobile home bachelor pad once, 5 steps. My buddy said "let me get in front of it". I said no, better not, let's just do from the top. It's impressive how far a 600 pound safe on a fridge dolly will slide on concrete after accelerating down four out of five steps. And a testament to its construction when you get it upright and nothing is tweaked in the slightest.

If I were still going and doing it, a couple big guys and lifting straps. At my current stage, bad back, forklift. Or set it in place and build a house around it

I wouldn't personally take the door off unless the manufacturer recommended it. I would be worried if I did drop it or anything not having the door there to help stiffen the whole thing.
