That's likely the dumbest sheet I've ever heard. Not you IVC, but the reason to not shoot there. I'm happy they don't.

I really enjoy being a member there. So many great people I meet every time I'm there. Admittedly, I only use the pistol range, and free range (when nobody is shooting trap) and my wife likes the plate rack area since it's relatively secluded from some of the rest of the range.


What's better than the steel match? Not much, fun group, easy to shoot, and the walk and draw is my favorite part!

Such a great club that does so much for training new shooters and getting people involved in the shooting sports!

The Wilcox range in Camp Pendelton is open for recreational shooting

If it ever rains again BLM land will open back up. You also have Imperial County available now. Out there you can shoot a mile.

Your words ring true... and I knew that by asking the way I did it would cause some... "Ruffling of feathers" that said..... without debating pros (and there are some I know) and cons (and I know there are some) about membership

theCMP.org sells US gov surlpus guns and ammo e.g. the 1911s that have been in the news/forums lately. They have a couple of storefronts and ranges. Civilian Marksmanship Program has been around a long time, runs matches across the country all year. Western Games used to be at Camp Pendleton but now at Ben Avery in Phoenix every October.

If you just want to shoot, Rainbow is a great range. It allows drawing, rapid fire and all sorts of action shooting. You can set up your own steel and there is a small range that you can have for yourself and work on movement and shooting on the run. It hosts steel match every second Saturday of the month and weekly trap shoots. The trap machine is mechanical and slow, but a good practice.

However, one of the owners is a woman. Some object to shooting at the range because it's woman-owned, some because it's insured by the NRA...

That's dumb AF. Iron Sights in Oceanside is owned by a woman. Do they not shoot there either?
