    Shipping guns via USPS

Much to my surprise, when I (not licensed) tried to ship a long gun to a C&R FFL holder in PA today, I was denied.

Are these new regulations? Both the USPS and the ATF websites affirm that I can ship a long gun.

I never use USPS for shipping guns. Just create a label online and drop it off at any Fedex Office location.

I have shipped several rifles via USPS with zero issues. The problem seems to come from anti-gun USPS employees in certain offices that don't want to follow their own rules.

They have a poster that shows "Dangerous" materials which cannot be shipped via USPS.
When they ask what's in your package point at the poster and say "nothing dangerous."

Print out the regulations from the website and try again. If they refuse, sho them the regulation, ask to talk to the postmaster and let them know that you will be filing a complaint..

Shipping long guns via USPS by private citizens is completely legal. If you were denied, it was do to the staff not knowing the law, of incorrectly interpreting it.

I have shipped long guns many times using the US Postal Service.

                      "432.3 Rifles and Shotguns"

"Except under 431.2, unloaded rifles and shotguns are mailable. Mailers must comply with the rules and regulations under 27 CFR, Part 478, as well as state and local laws. The mailer may be required by the USPS to establish, by opening the parcel or by written certification, that the rifle or shotgun is unloaded and not ineligible for mailing."

employee misconduct, which is defined as as a substantial or intentional disregard of the employer's interests. either the employee:

                          a) doesn't know the rules (which might not constitute misconduct, but should prompt them to be retrained), or
                          b) willfully chose not to ship the item because they are anti-2A. that would be an "intentional disregard of the employer's interests," as it is a legal item to ship and the employer would have profited by shipping said item.
