Ya don't rely on advice from the idiots at Turner's. One good thing about their advice is that it's usually conservative, they err on the side of the caution and don't hand out advice that's going to get you in troubl it's just flat out wrong advice.
As to the law the ffls I've talked to said nothing changes for 2018 online sales just need to go to an ffl. 2019 is when the background checks start. A lot of FFL and lgs are not really excited about receiving people's ammo either since they're usually already strapped for space

I dont think there is a limit on how much ammo you can buy if you do it through a dealer.

      But it can change.
Been gone too long. It's been 15 to 20 years since i had to shelf my guns. Those early years sucked.
I really miss the good old Pomona Gun Shows.

you can buy online it just has to be shipped to an ffl. or licensed ammo vendor who will accept an out of inventory shipment. No limits that I know of as of yet. And the background and permit stuff starts in 2019.

The online sale thing is pretty clear as of 1/1/18 but how about sales among private parties in CA without using a dealer? And on 1/1/18 can we still drive back with ammo from another state or not?

I know the background checks start in 2019 but the other stuff is confusing.

I'll bring back more than 50 rounds from out of state, more like thousands. It will be taken out of the new boxes and tossed into old dirty ammo cans. Then a sprinkling of AZ dust and there is my California ammo I'm bringing back. Prove otherwise unless I'm guilty before being presumed innocent.

Like cell phone laws, this will be ignored.

I guess the new ammo law will help the gun show sellers quite a bit, I guess I will be spending more time with friends in AZ.

                                It is complete FUD.

2018 dealers require a DOJ permit to sell ammo, online purchase and personal transfer restrictions go into effect.
2019 purchaser background check goes into effect.

In the last week I have heard:
50 round limit (so no more 200rd WWB? Don't think so).
Background check will be denied if you don't own a gun registered in that caliber.

                                Both are complete BS.
