    New Ammo Law Clarification

With the new ammo law effective 1/1/18 - I've confirmed that their will be no more online sales of ammo in CA.

However, when does the Ammo Background checks start and is their a limitation on the number of rounds you can buy in one month?

    Thanks

I'm not an expert, but currently there does not appear to be a restriction on the number of rounds purchased. Of course that could change in the future.

Actually, online purchases can continue, but the the ammunition will have to be shipped to an authorized ammunition dealer where you may pick it up after the BG check.

I don't know when the system will be in place for the BG check. Others probably do.
sigpicC'mon man, shouldn't we ban Democracks from Cal-Guns? Or at least send them to re-education camps.

I was at Turners today, they mentioned there is a 50 round per month limitation per person 1-1-18, which sounds ridiculous I asked 2 employees got the same answer.

Here's a good rundown of the ammo restrictions:

It doesn't discuss how many rounds can be purchased, but I thought I heard 500 per month per household.

I went to Chino Hills Turners today. I told them 50 rounds per month was ridiculous. All they said NRA is filing a law suit.

If you own 26 or more rounds, you have an ammo cache. If you have more than 51 rounds you're a maniac.

Is the 50 round limit per month per person true?

Pretty sure the 50rd limit only applies if you go out of state and bring ammo back.

I dont think there is a limit on how much ammo you can buy if you do it through a dealer.

Hope the 50rd limit only applies to out of state and bring ammo back. Otherwise 50 Rounds per month makes no sense at all. Additionally he said, if you go to a gun range you can buy as much as you can shoot, but can't take excess ammo with you. As I noted earlier, I asked more than one employee (actually 3, since 2 were standing together) at Turners the same question regarding the 50 Round limit and got the same answer.

Last week at the Ontario gun show I was told by 2 separate ammo dealers (one of which was Ammo Bros) that the background checks won't start until 1/1/2019,and the major change for 1/1/18 was the elimination of online sales (which is the most consistent of what I have read/heard).

AFAIK, there is no limit to the number of rounds you can buy. Of course with all of it being reported to the overlords, maybe you should stick with a 50 round limit.

Nobody needs more than 50 rounds.

                      Sorry, not sorry.

Lawyers, California federal judges, this cant be constitutional.
I would think this would be an easy argument for repeal....

Who shoots only 50 rds at the range? After range fees etc... Really?

At Turners, it was stated, the 50 round limit was the monthly purchase limit. At the gun range , you can buy and shoot unlimited rounds, just can't take it with you afterwards.

Turners is a gun and Ammo Dealer, if they are wrong on this issue, they need to educate their employees, since they sell guns and Ammo. Like I said 3 employees at Chino Hills said the same comment.

Where have you been? Its well known, that Turners employees are generally clueless on CA gun laws... google them on OLL's, SSE, featureless... its always the same, the spread FUD because they make assumptions and don't know any better.
