Pmags, gen 2 or 3. Durability, flexibility without needing to be bent back into shape, reliability, easier to disassemble and reassemble for a rinse, and texture. GI mags are good too but most of the time need follower replacement.Last edited by CouchOperator; 10-25-2017, 2:16 AM. -
Colt....Collectors Item as well as probably any other Vietnam Era mfg(the good ones that is) http://www.retroblackrifle.com/ Pmags for the rest. As always just my .02.Comment

The green followers are old, but I got some really old metal followers in some old VN era mags. And I won't replace them.Comment

USGI with magpul followers for me please. Or HK steel mags.

Pmag. Most of the military uses them now, at least front line infantry. I guess that makes them USGI too now.
Nothing wrong with the old aluminum mags, but there is a reason they switched. They spent the time and money testing Lancers, Pmags and the new metal mags. Pmag came out on top by a wide margin.
Until someone can expend tens of thousands of rounds testing mags to that extent, I'll trust the USMC tests.

GI mags any day. I carried them when I was in the Army. I know how much abuse they can take.
I do not know what you mean by Colt USGI mags. Colt AR mags held 20 rounds. USGI mags hold 30 rounds. The first USGI mags from the 1960's held 20 rounds, but I doubt you will find any, and if you do they are collector's items.

Pmags. The ONLY issue I ever had with them was with the gen1 and early gen 2 pmags in very very cold weather they would screw up, but I believe they have addressed that.Fear is the spare change that will keep you broke

There are lots of old 20's around, and new 20's are still being made. Not that it matters to the Californicated.GI mags any day. I carried them when I was in the Army. I know how much abuse they can take.

As for the question, I can't stand plastic mags.Comment

I have the Colt 20rd that came with the Colts I have. I pulled the little steel limiter out so they would be 20rd. I was referring to the original Colt 30rd that I bought surplus years later. I probably have at least 30 maybe more. I also have a bunch of Adventure Line 30's as well.....Funny Adventure Line......GI mags any day. I carried them when I was in the Army. I know how much abuse they can take.
