These are fun. Not sure where I end up on this. I am usually pretty quiet and try to be helpful if I see someone doing something wrong that will result in either personal injury or damage to the range. Not a serviceman, vet, or retired, nor do I act like I know everything and throw information around.
I used to be more secretive about gun ownership in the past but lately with the political climate nowadays, I feel that I need to represent a positive side of gun ownership and demonstrate that not everyone gun owner is a crazy person that is one road rage incident away from snapping. So I am more open to sharing my experiences with people and especially talking about training/courses that I have taken. I have found that most people I discuss this with, seem to be much more open about it than I would have expected.Comment

I'm kind of a #1 guy when I go to the range. I like the solitude, quiet, just focusing on the gun, the target, and the shooting basics. At target change times I'm usually quiet, but polite to anyone approaching.
When I see the #3 guys I move away as many benches as possible. Seen I lot of Glock T-shirts and hats. On the pistol blocks they shoot the 7 yards to brag about their "grouping". Target change times were their chance to share their expertise.NRA Life Member

I basically I've come across 3 types of gun owners.
1. The quiet guy who doesn't talk about guns. He's nice and chill and you'll just be surprised when the day comes he invites you over to his house and show you a room full of guns. Ask him a question and he'll be a walking gun dictionary.
2. The super nice, super helpful guy. You see them on the range sipping coffee and just wants to strike a conversation. He offers help but isn't condescending. Usually an older man. Retired and a Vet.
3. The d-bag, usually has a Glock or 2. Fat out of shape slob in his 20's & 30's. Shoots his mouth off more than a fully automatic gun. Brags about himself and how he's on top of every gun issue and how he knows the solution to everything. Then talks about how he can put down a dozen attackers at once and how he will make a swat team cry should they try to take his guns.I am of uncommonsense where as ages ago it was known as common sense where as today many are of common-non-sense.Comment

I'm probably a bit of a combination of OP's 1 & 3, honestly.
I am generally pretty quiet about gun stuff, but when others ask or bring up the topic I can't wait to engage and share my knowledge, experience, or opinions and listen to the same from others. I'm a chunky 29 year old and I have a few Glocks, but I don't over embellish too much.I am of uncommonsense where as ages ago it was known as common sense where as today many are of common-non-sense.Comment

Or the non-tourist tourist acting ones that have just passed the safety cert and brought their Norinco and shotty to the range for the first time since he got it 6 months ago with like 6 other non gun owning family members, goes to the farthest side of the line so as not to be around others, gets yelled at for breaking rules and unsafe practices multiple times throughout their whole hour and a half thereby the RSO, leave their spent shotty husks and casings everywhere, pack up and almost leave but get yelled at by the RSO AGAIN to come back and pick up their shotty husks, then leave their targets down range, and take off.Last edited by uncommonsense; 10-17-2017, 10:49 PM.I am of uncommonsense where as ages ago it was known as common sense where as today many are of common-non-sense.Comment

Bought my G19 last week at Turners. I'm your typical quiet skinny looking nerdy asian guy. The employee was happy to see that I knew how to manipulate it and point it in a safe direction compared to those #3's. lolComment

My biggest problem are the Elmer fudds willing to throw anything that's not a good stocked double gun or hunting rifle under the bus.
They are the absolute worst, and give ammo to our enemies.Comment
