I drive by my local range and see Mr.'s #1 or #2-

Unpack my gear and shoot thumb buster, punch out brass, drink coffee, tell tall tales if engaged.

See that Joker #3, I keep going, go back later or the next day-

For entertainment value, you can also add "The Magician" - i.e. the black powder shooter, who will spend several minutes muzzle-loading his weapon, then carefully aims, pulls the trigger, and *POOF* disappears in a puff of smoke! Where did he go? Wait, where did all the targets go too?

I am talking about the ones who have a gun hidden in easy reach of their lazy boy in front of the TV, they may even have a gun in the bathroom, don't go to bed at night without getting a gun out of the safe and loading it up in easy reach of the bed..wait half of them keep a gun by the bed at all times. I have met a few like that, they scare me.

I go to bed at night with all my guns safely locked in the safe and unloaded, I do have a lockbox by the bed with a S&W model 66, I went to open it about a year ago to take it to the range, I had forgotten the combo, it had been years since I opened it. It took a few months of occasionally trying the different combos until I got it opened. There has been a few times where I got a gun out of the safe to keep by the bed when we were having a string of breakins in the neighborhood or like that but those are rare times

Don't know where I fit in. At the range I mostly keep to myself but will engage in friendly conversation when the opportunity presents. I have a 34. I also shoot my Luger and a couple other old pieces from time to time. If someone shows an interest in one of my guns, and they look like they're "safe", I'll let them put a few rounds down range. I'll offer advice from time to time but I know my limits. I'm a vet, but I spent most of my time making crowns and bridges.

Usually people leave me alone, though. Maybe it's the long hair, beard, shorts, flip flops, and tie-dye t-shirt.

                        1. The quiet guy who doesn't talk about guns. He's nice and chill and you'll just be surprised when the day comes he invites you over to his house and show you a room full of guns. Ask him a question and he'll be a walking gun dictionary.

                        2. The super nice, super helpful guy. You see them on the range sipping coffee and just wants to strike a conversation. He offers help but isn't condescending. Usually an older man. Retired and a Vet.

                        3. The d-bag, usually has a Glock or 2. Fat out of shape slob in his 20's & 30's. Shoots his mouth off more than a fully automatic gun. Brags about himself and how he's on top of every gun issue and how he knows the solution to everything. Then talks about how he can put down a dozen attackers at once and how he will make a swat team cry should they try to take his guns.
3a. The know-it-all wearing $1500 worth of military and pseudo-military gear and looks like he just walked out of a hot zone in Iraq. He's got a sidearm strapped to his thigh and an AR in his hand. His response to someone saying "Clear" on an already clear range is to walk up and down the line and inspect everyone's station, maybe even help himself if he feels like handling someone's guns. I can tolerate stupidity, but I hate people touching my stuff. This includes a**hole ROs.

EDIT: This was a particular guy that I saw three days ago. Not really that common where I usually shoot.

I just shoot at home so there is only one ahole but he is managable.

Im kinda like number one, a quiet type that doesnt talk about guns in public or with casual acquaintances and keeps a very low profile, except I wont invite a person over to show them my guns, too personal and private, also the risk of loose lips sinks ships = home burglary, when people hear about what you have where you live, etc

higher chances on a burglary (inside job)

I'm not scared or unshared, it's an agreement I made for undisclosed reasons. The less people who know, the better. Honestly I've always been the private type, so this isn't too much of a stretch. Maybe it's my italian ancestry? Where I live, word would get around quickly. If you think about it, it defeats the purpose because of the element of surprise in the event of a situation that puts my life in danger. If somebody knows I'm packing, they'll be expecting it and I could be outgunned.
Besides, I really don't want to sound like one of those guys who just talks about guns all day. I have too many hobbies eating up my free time as it is.
