What about the one who says he saw black helicopters outside, thinks 9/11 was an inside job, and believes in chem trails?
Partisanship is cancer. Glory to the USA, glory to Ukraine, and I hope that someday Russia is free and the normal people have a voice.

It's about priorities. The marginal skill increase you get from one weekend of speed shooting at a cost of $500-$1000 is outweighed by the effectiveness of $500-$1000 in security enhancements for your dwelling.

Detering, or knowing a threat is forcing entry to your castle > shooting faster at that threat in your kitchen, every time.

I think he over reacted just a bit. I can't imagine someone falling to the ground because they heard a shotgun blast. I was stoopid and young and didn't use hearing protection when shooting hundreds if not thousands of shells. I am sure my hearing was damaged somewhat, but I am 51 and I don't use hearing aides yet. My wife complains that I don't listen to her, so maybe I should get my hearing checked. I use hearing protection now.

It was a indoor range, small shooting bay.

When it comes to spouses, we generally hear but over time we may not listen as much.

You left out my type, the "serious loner". Not there to make friends, get help, advice, or any contact from any of the above on your list. Do my thing without being annoyed... same as I would be at a public library. My head on a swivel, don't trust anyone around me until I've observed their habits. Any jackwagonry people come around, I usually leave.

Call me the extremely private type. Nobody knows except for one person that I hand-selected (and one by proxy). Even the admins on here don't know much. I don't talk about it outside of here to anybody, except to the person mentioned above. No girlfriends, no facebook, nothing. There aren't any clues in my house, either - no stickers, mousepads, posters, stupid mailing lists, nra subscriptions, anything. Digging in my trash won't find any receipts or empty packages, that goes to somebody else to be disposed of elsewhere.

                        1. The quiet guy who doesn't talk about guns. He's nice and chill and you'll just be surprised when the day comes he invites you over to his house and show you a room full of guns. Ask him a question and he'll be a walking gun dictionary.

                        2. The super nice, super helpful guy. You see them on the range sipping coffee and just wants to strike a conversation. He offers help but isn't condescending. Usually an older man. Retired and a Vet.

                        3. The d-bag, usually has a Glock or 2. Fat out of shape slob in his 20's & 30's. Shoots his mouth off more than a fully automatic gun. Brags about himself and how he's on top of every gun issue and how he knows the solution to everything. Then talks about how he can put down a dozen attackers at once and how he will make a swat team cry should they try to take his guns.
So your cliff notes are, you're one of the following:

                        1) You're a quiet gun owner that doesn't shoot much (at least in public).

                        2) You're an old retired vet, and pretty cool.

                        3) You're a D-bag

Ok, I guess we're all entitled to our opinions.

I have met a few like that, they scare me.

I go to bed at night with all my guns safely locked in the safe and unloaded, I do have a lockbox by the bed with a S&W model 66, I went to open it about a year ago to take it to the range, I had forgotten the combo, it had been years since I opened it. It took a few months of occasionally trying the different combos until I got it opened. There has been a few times where I got a gun out of the safe to keep by the bed when we were having a string of breakins in the neighborhood or like that but those are rare times
I can't figure out which guy is "crazier" in your 2 example. Seems like complete opposites. Somewhere in the middle is probably most logical.
