If one was considering the C&R + CoE route, would there be any advantage/disadvantage to setting it up or starting the process before the end of the year?

Advantage would be you're ready to go when the law kicks in.

Only disadvantage is your renewal for the COE would be a couple of months sooner.

I would get the get it going right away. As of 1-1-2018 all store employees selling ammo will be required to have a COE and DOJ will probably be swamped with applications as the end of the year comes near.

Funny on how some would abandon their brethren and ignore their suffering rather than stay and fight. Instead they cower and flee from commies and run towards shrinking "free" lands as red hordes take over. Nice to see where you stand. "Fellow American"

I'm that old white bald guy driving 60 mph in a Jeep Wrangler, they ignore me. The BMW guys get all the attention.

I also don't leave anything in plain sight. I also don't bring back tannerite, mags or other illegal stuff, don't press your luck. Tannerite and tracers are saved for the AZ desert.

It's faster to drive from here to Yuma than it is to drive to LA. Even at 60 mph.

You aren't really asking for permission, just notifying as the law requires.

This is basically done as a courtesy. Your local police has no say as to what the Feds do with your license application and since you are not running a business but are simply a collector, the city really has no say either.

It is theoretically possible, but I've never heard of it happening.
BATFE simply requires that a copy of the application be sent to the CLEO.

yes, and CoE requires a livescan and a yearly fee that goes straight to California's coffers. I have both due to being a milsurp collector and I really didn't like the fingerprint part of it. I also don't mind sending $30 to the fed every three years but that yearly ~$20 check to Brown is a bit more hard to swallow just out of principle.
