Surprised no Beta C mag in the collection.
Some say that he once mooned two prostitutes just for a round of drinks, but wasn't surprised by the reply......They call him, the Hutch
Some say that he rode a dirtbike 7k miles across the country and that he once applied Bengay to his own testicles for a mere $50............They call him, the Hutch -Top Gear

Ppl seem to be getting hell bent on the firing position of the safety.

I know one early rumor was that he owned a machine shop/had significant machining experience (ive heard rumors about that, him being a pro gambler, and now an accountant). For S&Gs im curious, is it not possible to machine the trigger group in an AR15 so that even the "semi auto" position can be full auto? If the gun was illegally modified which way the selector switch is/was pointing is irrelevant.

        Per ATF
        12 bump stocks
47 weapons in 3 different locations

(Please note specific lack of "full auto" anything inventoried/anywhere)

It's two setups, a little milling, and drilling one hole. A kid who took high school metal shop or an adult with a two hour maker shop class could do the conversion.

That's a low bar for someone motivated enough to commit mass murder then kill themselves afterwards.

Anyone can order the fire control parts because they're not restricted items.

Not much of a stepping stone - FA are already quite heavily regulated. Hard to push for AWB if it wasn't an AW, but an FA.

(I agree with the rest of your post completely, though.)

I think several parts to make an AR full auto are restricted, no? Same with AK's? Some guns do have restrictions on specific parts, others have none. ATF logic makes no sense.

I am an amateur machinist, welder, and a professional designer and engineer and doing all the work, especially to an AR, requires a level of involvement, time, and testing. It's not easy, and I doubt anyone with a high school shop class could pull it off without being knowledgeable about firearms and machining. We tend to take for granted all kinds of things, and if you look at it from the point of view of someone who has no technical knowledge or gun knowledge it's a daunting task. Not saying it's not possible, but I would say less than 10% of the population could pull it off. I don't think 25% of gun owners could pull it off.

My experience is home building dozens of firearm kits over the years, and what I have always done is make sure they don't fire full auto and covert properly and legally to semi auto. That's also difficult, maybe just slightly less difficult than converting to full auto.

I agree with this but still @ 1/4 mile controlling continued fire with a slide fire seems like a difficult task. Ive shot one at about 20 yards and was all over the place.

This dude must have spent time training with his platforms.

A 64 year old retiree accountant and real estate dude with no experience with guns retrofits a half dozen with bump fire stocks, smuggles them and thousands of rounds of ammo into a sweet at the Manadalay Bay that goes for $1000 a night, rents it for 4 days, then breaks the windows out and shoots like a sniper from 400 yards with a slide-fire rifle and some awful high cap mags (did you see what they were, those 50 rounders that never work, lol). All this without any training or knowledge?

Oh, and the guy has no criminal history and is a multi millionaire and owns several planes and multiple homes.

He's a gun collector and shooter for more than 20 years. He used 60 and 100 round Surefire magazines. 4 of his rifles were Daniel Defense. A few SIG as well.

er, those mags were the surefire mags. those have been highly reliable from most reports.

this guy didn't make the mistake of buying the jam-matic beta drum mags.

and to be honest, we should be glad that this guy didn't do more research and bought the fightlite belt fed ar15 upper. then he would have had an actual machine gun when paired with the slide fire stocks.

I feel like he may be a democrat. If he were a Republican all news stations would be headlining that till the end of time. Wonder how long till the FBI finds something. Why haven't conversations with his girlfriend been released yet? She probably knows his political affiliations.
