It's not so much the "language spoken", it's the culture of the immigrants, regardless of their origin.

Almost any one can learn another language, but changing their culture is not as easy.

Forcing them to learn English will help our 2A rights because when Spanish is not offered they will be assimilated into America. Further we RKBA advocates can communicate and respectfully sell them on the self defense aspect.

Recently on a cruise (Mexico) we talked with a lady vendor who had her child within arms reach. Somehow the conversation ended with her telling us cartel members grab children and sell their body parts for wealthy needing transplants.

Try that in USA and the cartel population would soon find out there could be serious consequences !

Just in case you forgot, Spanish and Russian were both spoken here before English was. Not to mention many native languages spoken by the various tribes, and that's just in California. Our original state constitution required all documents to be in Spanish and English.
There's a good chance your ancestors couldn't speak English when they got here. All this thread is is an excuse to be anti-immigrant, ignoring that that's how you got here. And there were lots of people here that spoke about your ancestors the way you are talking about immigrants now. Looking back, we go "yeah, they were racist..." Do you think future generations will look at you differently? Irish, German, Dutch, French, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Russian, Portuguese, Mexican, Peruvian, Brazilian, Iranian, Egyptian, etc.... all have come here and joined this country, all have contributed to it's greatness, and all are people, human beings like you or I, wanting a better life. Why would they want to integrate with someone with your attitude, where it's "screw you if you're not like me"? When you treat immigrants with hostility, you make it less likely they'll assimilate, because their community doesn't treat them like crap and has compassion for their struggles.
You want everyone to speak English? Then help them learn instead of trying to strip their rights to coerce them.

It is not a matter of language. Immigrants come here from countries where guns are controlled by the government and they think that is the way it should be. Aussies and Brits know English (more or less ) but they come from countries where citizen's gun rights are severely curtailed.

So I propose anytime you are requested to press a number to speak English you inform the business that everytime you hear 1 for English 2 for Spanish that you will contribute to President Trumps re-election campaign.

What if the business owner wants to cater to Spanish-speaking customers AND he is a Trump supporter. The two are not mutually exclusive. A smart businessman would want to draw in as many customers as possible, including Spanish-speaking ones. And a smart businessman is likely to support Trump too.

If you threaten to contribute to Trump every time you hear "1 for English 2 for Spanish" he is likely to say "That's great! I hope you call several times a day! MAGA! And muchas gracias!!"

TheZouave has it exactly right. Many first generation immigrants to this country (likely including many of YOUR ancestors) either never learned English or spoke it poorly, but their kids absolutely learned. And don't forget, unless you're a full-blooded Native
American, you have immigrant blood running through your veins.

Two other things to think about. First, in Switzerland most people speak at least four or five languages (German, French, Italian, English and Swiss German) and there is NO national language. National identity in Switzerland hasn't got squat to do with which language you speak or don't. Second, traveling outside the US teaches you pretty quickly that English is the universal language. My wife speaks a bit of five or six languages and enjoys practicing them when we travel, but the folks who work in hotels, restaurants, airports and many other businesses are happy to practice their English with me. In France, you can't become a registered professional engineer without passing an English proficiency exam.

One of my brothers was a cop in South Florida and was constantly being mistaken for a Hispanic. He hated being spoken to in Spanish based on his appearance. Tough. In parts of Brooklyn you'll hear only Russian or only Yiddish. Irritating at times, but to tell you the truth there are many other things I find far more irritating than people speaking in a language I don't understand.

The reason all of you are in this country unless you're 100% Native American is in some way connected to an ancestor's desire for a better life. Just keep that inconvenient fact in mind the next time you start bashing immigrants, legal or not.

Except that basically every immigrant family I know loves guns. Most of them come from 2nd World type countries and areas where men are still masculine protectors and breadwinners, therefore facilitating a love for self defense and weaponry. Some of them had guns by whatever means in their old countries and for darn sure will do what they can to get some in America too.
