I put about 150 rds of 5.56 through it at west end just now and it stayed tight with just a little wrench tension. no crush or thread lock.

Can see a little more flash but not distracting at all, looking through a 2.5 prism scope. My shooting buddy said it was louder than the miculek brake on another rifle without the concusion. But we were shooting towards a vertical hillside that reflected a lot of the sound back, and he is used to shooting mostly .223

      Smart OP, great job!
I'd agree with you but then we'd both be wrong...

Ive only compared them by feel in the hand to the A2 and some brakes that I have lying around. Ill try and get an actual measurment sometime soon.

Smart. I dunno why this hasn't been thought up already! It would look a lot better than a lousy thread protector.

This is as close to what your looking for.

Been gone too long. It's been 15 to 20 years since i had to shelf my guns. Those early years sucked.

What's wrong with a brake or linear compensator? It might as well do something if you are going to stick it on there.

I believe you are looking for this. A thread protector in the A2 fashion.

It does do somthing, it protects the thread....and maybe that 11 deg. angle on the tip does somthing

What is the CA definition of a brake? or a Compensator?

It is open for interpretation at the moment. With the current regs anything that redirects gases or flash is a no go, and I dont want to be the first test case in court. A brake redirects, a compensator redirects. even the fake A2 above can be considered a blast can if the hole is to big.

Its not for everyone, but my range buddies are happy the brake is gone.

I like it for my KelTec Sub2K and 9mm ARs. Adds almost no length, gives it the "finished" look that thread protectors don't have and serves a purpose (protecting the threads).

I'd buy three if you were selling them.

It won't work on a Sub 2000. The stock thread protector abuts the sight tower. The OP's thread protector requires some bare barrel.

My sentiment exactly. That to me is why what you created is so appealing.
