Flash hider / Thread protector Alternative.

With all the confusion about flash hider vs muzzle brake I decided to go with thread protectors on my AR style rifles for now. However I cant stand the way off the shelf thread protectors look, and how plain the barrel looks. So I made a few Thread protectors That have the profile of a muzzle device but have no effect on gases/ flash.
They are sleeved to fit around the barrel so they sit flush with the end of the barrel thread and are relatively light.

Probably not for everyone, but I wanted to share the idea. If anyone is interested in one I may sell some of the leftovers. I have no interest in making any quantities, but maybe some vender here can run with it.

That is a great idea, very nice workmanship. I just went with the Thread Protectors, trying to go as inexpensively as possible. I see no point in trying to second guess what will be legal and what won't. I figure if its not there its not illegal. However your idea is a really nice "Thread Protector" and I wish someone had been making them......

Something to consider - weight at the end of the barrel is where you least want it. You might consider producing a more compact version to cut down on the weight.

It is bored out to .755 and 1.250 deep. so it is mostly hollow and it sleeves over the barrel. The only solid portion is The actual thread. Its is lighter than the micilek muzzle brake and a little heavier than an A2 birdcage.

I would put one on each of my 16" barreled carbines. A real A2 birdcage does nothing for me other than making it look scarier than it is.

It was my original intention to add slots to make it look more like a brake, or flash hider. but I didnt have time to get them on a mill after turning them and now they are already black oxide coated. I wanted to just get somthing on now. I will probably do some with slots when Im not so busy.
