Quiet, all,
Do we know how much will be charged to facilitate private ammunition transfers starting 1 January 2018? Will it be $10 (the fee charged to facilitate private firearm transfers), or less?Penal Code 30312
(a)(1) Commencing January 1, 2018, the sale of ammunition by any party shall be conducted by or processed through a licensed ammunition vendor.
(2) When neither party to an ammunition sale is a licensed ammunition vendor, the seller shall deliver the ammunition to a vendor to process the transaction.Last edited by butlers; 11-27-2017, 12:32 PM."The nation that will insist on drawing a broad line of demarcation between the fighting man and the thinking man is liable to find its fighting done by fools and its thinking done by cowards." The good news is the ammo flippers who bought up all the .22lr for the past couple of years are going to be stuck with it, as they can't sell it now for what they bought it for, and when the next ammo craze hits in three years, they will miss out.Comment

Ok there's a lot of copy and paste going around, which isn't a bad thing, but it's all greek to me and I dont think I'm the only one.
The short version: In january you cant buy online without using an ffl, which means your options are limited. Buy now, as much as you can afford, some companies have a cut-off date of december 15th. You also can't sell person-to-person without using an ffl like turners or whoever, which will either create a black market or increase prices or put them out of business and leave them stuck. I dont think your relative can legally give you a single round without getting a third party involved. You can buy as much as you want in-store, but the employee at the store has to have department of justice licensing. As to who will have it, it's more than likely walmart and turners will. And that's just keeping it simple. Starting july 2019, you need an in-state background check to buy any ammo. That may get thrown out because it's already been pushed back twice.
There's also the matter of people selling on the private ammo part of calguns, among other forums. If they don't get rid of it, they'll be stuck with all of that product. Will prices go down? Remains to be seen, some people won't budge because of the whole "2A guns/ammo hold their own" belief. I took two years of economics and even I couldn't tell you, going to have to leave it to the free market to decide what happens.Comment

I would suggest you promote the great state of California to every Democrat Texan you meet. You are not many elections away from what we have here!
As we all know the libtard mentality is alive and well in Texas with minorities, universities and of course swamp media !
Meanwhile enjoy the laughs provided by the California democrat party. They are a never ending source of entertainment.
Personally I fire very few rounds of ammunition as I prefer lots of dry practice so at this point it's not a big inconvenience.Comment

Not to get off topic, but government (the Obama era) kept giving things away for (nearly) free. Expect more cities to turn blue as the middle class disappears and lower class will punish upper class (one term of Trump isn't going to fix much - especially when you have Senate leaders jumping ship).
People like free things at the expense of others. I can only see this trend continuing for the rest of my lifetime and generations thereafter..
Facts are to liberals as kryptonite is to Superman.

It's disconcerting how many seem to be A-OK with this new law "Eh, you'll just have to pay a tax", "Meh, you'll just be reporting the types of weapons you're buying for, how much you buy, how often you buy it etc. No big deal"
I consider this to be a huge deal and nothing short of the ammo embargoes perpetrated by the Tyrannical Empire that our forefathers hoped to escape. The second amendment means nothing if the Citizenry just lets it slowly get legislated out year by year.Comment

Eliminating the on-line competition, and adding the reporting requirements, ammo prices are going to go up!Comment

You're required to record the type and quantity of ammo received, if you self purchase with a FFL+COE whatever, right? Or are you exempt from all record keeping/reporting to DOJ?
The retailers will be reporting who/what/where to DOJ for all purchases, correct?Comment

So, hand a buddy a box of ammo at the range (legal). He takes the ammo home - violation. Wow.
At your home you give a friend a box of ammo for christmas - violation.Comment
