Just to toss my 2c in, when ever I do a PPT down in the bay area, I choose Irvington arms too. Everytime I get A+ service and end up spending the money on another accessory or ammo. As for Target Masters, never done anything other then shooting.

Haha I bought a Sig P220 there and man it took over an hour. Seriously there was soo much paperwork I couldn't believe it. If you want short and sweet for PPT go to Rogers Relics in Santa Clara. All of 15 minutes to get everything done for both parties involved.

+1 for Bay Area Gun Vault, very fast and smooth PPT there last week.
My Irvington Arms experience was just as pleasant.

I would never do PPT at target masters....I always go to irvington arms....drive the extra miles and save your self some aggrivation

I wouldn't even buy a gun there if I could avoid it, they make so much money on the range that everything else is secondary.....

Also the paper work is redundant...I am all for having checks and balances but they go overboard......

check this out if you buy something no matter what it is you have to provide name address, ID NUMBER....I won't buy anything there......

ruski47 - unfortuantely that is normal for target masters. even a regular pistol sale takes over an hour with the stupid extra paperwork that they do and of course it seems no one knows how to do the paperwork, etc. i loathe targetmasters, just stay away from targetmasters. bunch of asshats, especially the owner.

i am a huge fan of irvington arms too. they are my number one bay area FFL.

Bought my first pistol at Target Masters back in 87, poor service then too.
              A+ for consistency.

Wow, that is pretty bad, absolutely nothing positive about them.

I would like to hear if anyone else had simular situation.
                  That is an horrendous story!

I currently operate a 'kitchen table FFL' and while PPT is the least of my favorite type transaction, I am never one to waste my time and/or the customers time. My 'kitchen table' is extremely busy, I do know what I am doing!

When I worked at Diamond Jim's - Ukiah, PPT's were NOT the favorite thing either, for obvious reasons. However, the boss-man 'Jim' NEVER let a customer sit like that! Mind me you and make NO mistake about it, get you FIRED right now!

In this situation, if you don't like doing something, or the money not worth the time, then would stand to reason that you get it done and out of the way right now! Get it done and get it behind you and move on. The $35 is State Mandate, and it is NOT the customers fault, so don't take it out on the customer and make them wait... that's thoroughly a ridiculous store practice!

Amazes me these stories... oh and Diamond Jim's was NOT a slow traffic store... those who remember [original] Diamond Jim will attest to the fact that this was one serious, and hoppin' foot traffic of a store!

Very sorry you had to wait for those BOZO'S behind the counter, PPT is a 15 minute transaction if both parties have all their ducks in a row... 25-35 minutes MAX if'n ya gots to explain things and listen to complaints and bull-craughp about DOJ, trigger locks, and HI-CAP ban etc!

Just gimme the ID's, fill the paperwork, gimme what I ask, Shhhhhh-hush now!, I tell you what you need, sign here and BAM-BAM... you out-a there in 15 guaranteed!

Freaking horrendous story... Born and raised in San Jose, been to TM a while ago, I am very sorry a firearm store did this to you... and so consequently now, they did this to themselves!

the sad thing is nothing can really be done about it...I for one will never go there for anything other than to shoot and I am not liking that so much........maybe i just need to find a new spot...

Awww, you have me beat My PPT took 3 hours 10 minutes. The people there are great but because of the method they use to do PPTs it adds unnecessary time to what should be a 20 minute process.

My experience has also been poor service and poorly trained employees at TM. Go elsewhere like Sporstmans Supply off Camden Ave.

Sportsmans supply in cambell is not bad, hit or miss on service (sometimes they have an attitude) and they are not OLL friendly. funny thing is they say no to an OLL but they have a kel tek SU16 behind the counter for sale.

I too have had a test of patience at target Masters, purchased my last three handguns there, the last one took over 2 1/2 hours. When I picked up it took about an hour. I don't even like to shoot there anymore.

They have had a bunch of new people working there and most rely on one or two senior individuals. The only reason I liked about them was the layaway.
