I got mine from Nighthawk Custom after purchasing one of their 1911s. I think they were made by ProEars for Nighthawk. What I like about them is that they work just great. What I don't like is the batteries...they're not a common type and they're expensive. It's too easy for the 'on' knobs to get knocked around in a range bag and turn the unit on. Then the expensive and hard-to-find batteries die overnight. -

I have some fairly inexpensive ones, but they've worked well for me.
Howard Leight Impact Sport. They have a headset jack which I used all summer to plug into a 2-way radio while working as an RSO at an outdoor range. I bought them on sale at Midway for about $50 shipped.

I bought these:
Cheaper Than Dirt! is America's Ultimate Shooting Sports Discounter, and we live up to that title. Expect bulk ammo deals, discounts, gun care accessories and more
They're NRR rated at 31, which is what you don't normally expect from electronic ears. I've used them for a couple of months now. My only complaint is that they're bulky, but I guess that comes with the rating, and the 4 batteries don't help much there. Aside from that, they provide good protection compared to the other electronic ears I used, roughtly equal tothe regular ears I used before (those were also NRR rated at 31).DiaHero Foundation - helping people manage diabetes. I value my hearing too much to go the cheap route..... That means while at the indoor range, I "double bag" using -30dB foam plugs in the ears (bought at Walmart) and ProEars Mag Gold -33db electronic muffs. Outdoors, I just wear just the ProEars Mag Golds. This setup works great!"Those who would give up Essential Liberty to purchase a little Temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety." I wear Pro Ears and work and Howard Leights when I shoot (they're thinner profile). The Pro Ears are the most confortable and I wear then 8 hours a day 2 - 3 days a week without issue.I'm only smiling at you while you talk to me because it's hilarious that you really think I give a crap about you.
As I've gotten older I thought I was gaining patience, then I realized I simply don't give a crap.Comment

i have Howard Leight Impact Sports. use AAA abtteries has an ipod jack and NRR level of 22.
My only problem so far is that they get a little uncomfortable after a few hours. and i would get feedback from .50beawolf, and the occasoinal .223 round from standing to close. but we were also near a valley that echoed pretty good. But it handles my .308win very well.Last edited by xibunkrlilkidsx; 03-01-2009, 11:08 PM.ΜΟΛΩΝ ΛΑΒΕPSN Id: FNChesterCertified Welder-ANSI/AWS D1.2 1F/G, 2F/G, 3 F/G up to 1/2 plate aluminium GTAW. &
