I read someone else suggest using Easy Off Oven Spray as an alternative. Not sure if they make smaller cans of it. Just make sure the spray doesn't blow back in the wind into your own face.. SF can get rather windy at times..

How about suggesting some Sabre 3-in-1 spray instead of suggesting that someone spray lye in someone's eyes? $10-15 and she would have the right thing to use and be completely within the law. I'm all for self defense against criminals, and sometimes that does mean using whatever is available, but I think even the use of bear spray is more defensible than using oven cleaner or wasp spray, especially in the case of what, according to the description, would be essentially a property crime.
