    concerned about my AR

Should i now be worried about taking my AR to the range, bullet button installed, being that there was an arrest locally to me a couple of weeks ago, involving an OLL ,should i now be concerned.
Im not trying to delve for more details on that situation as its in the process of being dealt with by others here on this site.
But it now has me worried.
Any of you guys feel the same way.

No, just take it to the range as usual. As long as you have your bullet button installed and have it in a CA compliant configuration at all times you should be good to go. If you hide it in your safe at home and don't take it out, then the gun grabbers have won.

No, they are pretty common. The word has spread, plus there is nothing illegal about it.

I no there is nothing illegal about them or the bullet button configuration, ive been taking mine to the range for months, with no problem. However since that original episode of an arrest evolved, with what i believe was an AR in the same legal configuration. It has me worried that the local police are perhaps targeting people with these type of rifles, ignoring the legalities and just hassling black rifle owners in an intimidation tactic. Putting them into the court system, for a resolution.

Print out the flowchart and the Sac PD memo. Know how to explain the information on these pages and then put them in your range bag. An overly excited police officer is not out of the question, but just be prepared to explain your case. Owning firearms is not just about shooting them but ensuring you fight for your rights.

With out providing us with the detaisl of the "bust" in your area how are we to know?

You can be arrested for anything. Now charges that stick, that's different.

Probably the worst I have seen is someone shooting a hi-cap mag in a OLL with a BB. not knowing that wasnt allowed. even then most people don't notice.

Has anyone on this site actually ever had to explain themselves to a LEO with the flowchart/sac pd memo and had the LEO let them go? Seems like the only encounters we know of are arrests but I'd like to know if there's anyone who was almost arrested and then let go.

I can not explain in any more detail that arrest as it was taken down shortly after it was posted, so that nothing would be compromised i guess while they fight it. I would love to find out the out come which im sure will come eventually. My real concern is that it might be a new tactic by law enforcment, given that the cost to fight it in the courts with a lawyer is probably not worth the expense of your rifle. That way they actually win even though your clearly in the right.

I don't think that there has ever been a case of the police arresting someone at a range with an OLL. Don't get pulled over (but if you do, you're still not doing anything wrong...besides they don't have the right to search your car unless you let them). I don't know what specific OLL case you're referring to but it seems like the majority of them have 'color', a nice way of saying that the owner did something wrong and the OLLs are just a small feature of an otherwise messy case.

The OP is correct that there was a LEO incident regarding an OLL in his area. What I can say is this.

                          1. CGF is on it and I expect it to be resolved quickly.

                          2. The incident started with a cracked windshield and caused much consternation for the LEOs involved. They were aware of the potential legality, but the bullet button equipped OLL was being transported without an empty magazine in the magazine well. Had there been a magazine in the well, I'm pretty sure he would have gotten a fix it ticket and just had an amusing story.

                          3. There is no real concern about the outcome of the incident. A bullet button w/o a magazine in the magwell is still not a rifle with the capacity to accept any ammunition feeding device that can be removed without the use of a tool.

Moral: Transport your OLL's with 10 round or smaller magazines in them. Note that the LEOs in question were aware of magazine fixing but were confused by the open magwell.

Good to know, I normally keep my mags in with my ammo. I'll have to remember that.
Lord, make my hand fast and accurate.
Let my aim be true and my hand faster
than those who would seek to destroy me.
Grant me victory over my foes and those who wish to do harm to me and mine.

Hoffmang - thanks for your insight on that case, i will keep my mag inside the mag well at all times, which is not something i had even been concerned about in the past, mind you i carry more than one mag in the rifle case with the AR, perhaps i should stop doing that.
