Google hotgunz and you'll see comments from "Michelle" or "Dixie Darling" on various blogs. All of them with EXACTLY the same text. BIG red flag.

Not that I'm claiming it's legitimate, but perhaps the better domain names were all taken up. That's usually the case.

While I wouldn't trust that site, it's an exact concept of something the NRA should back. I think it would be a good idea, to assist the public, where often LEO that respond to firearm-theft cases treat the situation with little concern (or have little resources or ability to track it down even if they do their best, other than to wait for the gun to show up at a pawn shop or goods found in a suspected criminal's stash ).

Report and look-up; but complete anonymity - very simple, no questions asked, no fee, etc. You could enter the LEO agency as your contact info, to whom you reported it stolen, should someone else discover information.

              .

Thank you for your warm welcome. I hope none of you ever have to list your firearm on my site, but if you do it is here for you.

it looks like a good concept. Hope it works out for everyone. I just ran a serial number on my computer today and you won't believe how many guns were reported stolen under the same serial number with different makes. I think I saw at least 5 different guns, Jennings, Raven and a few I cannot remember. This makes things a little interesting. For example, you are buying a Raven 25 with a certain serial number and if a Jennings with the same serial number was reported stolen, what happens?

Maybe the web site should have a section for serial number and the Make to clarify.

I am assuming you ran the serial number in NCIC, correct? My website requires the Make, Model, Caliber and Serial number of the firearm for this exact reason. If you want to test the database, I created a sample serial number (123456789) when I first built the site for people to see how their listing will look. Be aware that the reward and phone number are completely optional.
