Rocklin Man charged for Hi Cap mag

    From Rocklin PD site:

    Date Occurred: 05/20/2017

Crime: 32310 PC Possession of Large Capacity Magazine, 30605 (a) PC PC Possession of an Assault Weapon, 11350 H&S Possession of a Narcotic and 496 PC Possession of Stolen Property

Address: 4400 block of Rocklin Road

At 9:05 am, Rocklin Police responded to a call for service at a business. During the investigation officers contacted Thomas Davis who was in possession of several firearms and cocaine.
One of Davis' firearms was reported stolen and another was an illegal assault weapon.
Thomas Davis was booked into the Placer County Jail on the above charges.

    17-140-5
Thomas Davis, age 43 from Antelope

Looks like the charge was piled on to give the prosecutor more to bargain with.

Well hey, I'm sure the Narcotics and the Stolen property were the reasons they found the other stuff.

My guess is the 11350 and 496 had something to do with him getting charged with 32110 and 30605. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.

Narcotics, stolen gun, assault weapon. And LE was called out by a business, so it sounds like this guy was causing some type of trouble.

Rocklin PD is a great organization. I'm not sure if it had just been an old 13rd mag for a legally possessed and legally transported G23 that he'd have been charged with large cap mag possession.

But this guy had the book thrown at him, and probably deserved it.

I believe we've had part of this conversation before.

IIRC, the title of the PC source used in charges included 'possession', but as we know, until July 1, possession of a large-cap mag is not in itself a crime in state law.

You wrote clickbait that misrepresented the subject matter.

"Rocklin Man checks his mail and goes to jail" is just as accurate as the title you wrote, see how that's clickbait? You're fake news.

Sounds like exactly the type of character who will acknowledge and be influenced by ever-tightening firearm restrictions.

Recently saw a prior felon in Sonoma County charged with possession of a "large capacity magazine" and they charged it as a felony.

Probably because he was a felon in possession of anything gun related
