    I guess I'm SOL!
wait, OP says he reloads, so he has a reloading setup.

just buy components then. right now i believe brownells has free shipping no minimum code available. or the $20 off $175 + free shipping.

just pickup stuff on sale and reload. maybe visit ranges and pickup brass to save a bit more.

OP needs to just put in a bit of work to find the deals / save up the money. or just come to the realization that shooting isn't something in the cards until he either earns more money, or the kids are older and expenses are reduced.

          Could be both...

Exposure to lead is pretty bad especially during developmental stages... if you don't have a proper room or environment to keep the kids out, I could see this being a road block.

Its also really time consuming, requires a some concentration depending on what it is ur doing, and for me, personally I don't like to be interrupted when reloading. If you got kids bouncing off the walls, I can see that as not being an environment I want to have to reload in.

That said, if you can get a little piece and quiet, nice way to get a little ME time to wind down the day.

You're not going to get a measurable amount of lead exposure reloading.

I'm referring to kids getting into ur stash of used primers...

              Taking lines of tumber dust...

Eating brass... because you know there gona put that crap in their mouths.

Whatever else those little bastards might get into.

Sometimes I reload in my living room... im sure if you looked hard enough there are some primers that have fallen and rolled away. My vacuum generally finds them and makes cool noises.

Dedicated reloading area that the kids aren't allowed in solves that.

                  Obviously...

I don't know the OPs situation... I was just laying out a response to the other person, about why someone might not want to reload with kids around.

Two kids going to preschool and that pretty much explains it.
I would only sell an On-Roster Gun for Ammo figuring down the road you could re-but it.

Ammo is cheap if you buy in small batches. You can accumulate quite a bit buying 100 rounds at a time.

Is the wife working or planning on going back to work? Mine couldn't stand being stay at home mom.

                            Mama says:

"Pump them brakes, a least let you foot off the accelerator."

I'm trying to remain calm and figure there WILL BE AMMO in the future.

She's babysitting for a friend's friend. That might change as she'll have to take/pickup our older to kindergarten starting this Aug. The mom is concerned about her taking the baby along instead of staying in the house. So the mom might look for someone else.
