      JDay,

You need to look in the statutes. The information is not difficult to find.

There is no waiting period if the purchaser possesses a state CCW permit (which are very easy to obtain).

If the purchaser does not hold a CCW permit, then the waiting period for a handgun is 10 days for an established resident and 60 days for a new resident.

Please refer to RCW section 9.41.090 for the details of the required waiting periods, and to RCW section 9.41.092 for the duration of the waiting periods.

It not a good idea to look to second-hand sources like "smartgunlaws" for your legal information. There's a lot of FUD on those sites. It's much better to look to the controlling statutes directly.

If you build a man a fire, you'll keep him warm for the evening. If you set a man on fire, you'll keep him warm for the rest of his life.

The real "Nutso-ness" up here is very much centralized around Seattle. Unfortunately, that's the major population center. Once you get away from all that, the state is really very reasonable.

Good to know. I had looked through those sections but didn't see it. In any case as soon as I get my Washington drivers license and register to vote I'll be applying for my Washington CCW. I'm not planning on purchasing any new firearms right away. Going to be busy improving the new house.

Welcome to Washington. I'm sure that you'll be very happy here. The CCW application process is quite easy, and the Sheriff's tend to be very supportive of the right.

Where are your work offices located? There is only one freeway, I-5, going N/S from Everett and I-90 & 520 going E/W from Bellevue. I don't know which one I like least, going through LA in traffic or Seattle. Both are a pain but at least in LA there is more than one freeway to get around on. Watch out in the Seattle as there are areas where the outside lanes become street parking between commuting traffic hours.

Spokane is near lots of outdoor activities in not only western WA but north ID. Born and raised there.

I agree there's risk in the future with respect to gun laws, but that's true anywhere. We are putting up the "good fight". Like CA, we have the initiative process which amounts to mob rule. That's how PPT background checks got passed.
The east west split is pretty much defined by the Cascades. There are pockets on the west side, outside the liberal college corridor of I-5.

If you love rain and mist all the time, you'll love it there. My son is at Mccord/Lewis JT base, and he hates it. Been there 2 years.

I'm not a resident of Washington yet. The wife and I are still looking at houses. Should only be about another 3-4 months.

Honestly, the most attractive part of it for me anyways , are the less restrictive gun laws. Also the outdoor stuff for camping, atv riding , fishing ect. My wife has friends that recently moved there and they love it. We would be leaving our families though and that might be tough. The weather is another consideration too. We would probably keep our house in ca and rent it out while renting up there just to see how we really like it.

We are taking a trip to Idaho next week and were going through Oregon on our way back and decided to go check it out while we're up there.
                      Peace through superior firepower
