    Wa state gun laws

Anyone can tell me real quick how they are compared to here? Main questions are:

    Handgun roster?
    Mag restrictions?
    Waiting period?
    CCW process ?

Anything else that might be good to know feel free to mention. Thanks!

Retail dealers must record and report all retail pistol sales to local police/sheriff and to state department of licensing.

No MG's allowed post 1994. SBR's and Supressors OK with NFA stamp & ATF registration.

Background checks required for PPTs- no parking lot cash and carry.

Seattle is pretty strongly anti as far as politics goes, and actually has a $25 per gun and 2 or 5 cents per round of ammunition tax. So forget purchasing anything there

LTC permit is easy. One form, 10 minutes, finger prints and $54 ish, if memory serves. No interview, no good cause statement, no references, no class, etc. 30 days and it comes in the mail.

With a permit, you can take gun purchases home the same day. You can't without it.

          Open carry is legal.

          Suppressors are legal.

But how long they can keep it this way is anyone's guess. I think you'll see it go the way of CA in 5-10 years. It's incredibly liberal and becoming more so every day. The good people are fighting but you're definitely seeing the shenanigans...background checks on all sales already implemented, ammo tax in Seattle, AWB's being put forth but have been shot down (pun intended) in the legislature so far, etc. The state will fall eventually.

            Politically, socially, that's still Seattle.

From what I can tell, WA is not far behind CA. Similar demographics, too - population dense liberal cities write the laws for everybody - when much of the state is rural America.

Was just curious. My wife and I may have the opportunity to transfer there and keep same jobs at same pay. The areas look nice so far for outdoor activities.

No state income tax, so you'll be making more right away.

Get your LTC and handguns are cash and carry. No wait. LTC is straightforward shall issue, pay the fee and give fingerprints. Wait a month.

My wife and I looked at property outside Vancouver. It's beautiful out there and, despite all the liberals, Portland is a very cool city. We decided against buying land 20 years away from retirement because the political climate could change a LOT and it may become somewhere we don't want to live. I'll never pass up a trip to visit our friends up there, though!

There are, indeed, many opportunities for outdoor activities. They are all very accessible- whether you like boating on the lake, parks and botanical gardens, or hiking in the high Cascades. There's not a lot of great surfing, but you can ski and fish for salmon in the same day. Not sure which part of this great state you're coming from, but the weather will no doubt take some getting used to. Summers are exquisite, 78 and breezy. Got about 8 months of cool, drizzly silver skies. Not everybody can handle that.

Like CA, there's a split. Western Washington, most notably centered around Seattle, is highly liberal (but not completely). Eastern WA is notably not.

Outside of the City of Seattle, people are pretty tolerant.

I agree there's risk in the future with respect to gun laws, but that's true anywhere. We are putting up the "good fight". Like CA, we have the initiative process which amounts to mob rule. That's how PPT background checks got passed.

I'm moving to Washington and I haven't found anything saying that there's a waiting period for handguns. Where are you getting this from? A concealed carry permit exempts you from the NICS check in Washington.

Washington imposes no mandatory waiting period between the time of purchase and the actual physical transfer of a firearm for every firearm transfer.
