Look, it happens in EVERY state. Once you have a large population living closely together in dense housing, firearms ownership and use wanes and they no longer need/want/care about guns. Just a fact. As the US (and world) population soars, the loss of firearms rights is INEXORABLE. For example, what you would do with a .308 bolt action rifle in the middle of Downtown Tokyo, LA, or Moscow?

I don't think it's even purple yet. Trump won by 4 points, I never doubted he would win it, but I'd prefer larger margin. Time will tell.

Another aspect, Legal dope was rejected there, so the lefties may wish to stay in pothead paradises rather than go to where The Man will be a total bummer for them.

Nope, Arizona was very much dominated by Dems until somewhat recently. Phoenix is basically L.A. East. Tucson is not a lot better. The discussion right now is whether Tucson will declare itself a sanctuary city. For decades Arizona had Dem governors and no carry permits. It wasn't until the Dem POTUS at the time appointed the AZ governor to a cabinet position (Napalitano) or ambassador that a Repub took over as governor. The current governor is the first Repub elected into the office in a lifetime.Almost three quarters of Nevada's population is in Clark County, which as far as I can tell is almost indistinguishable demographically from the San Gabriel Valley. A universal background check law was passed by the legislature a few years ago (vetoed by the governor); and another was passed by referendum last year (rendered null and void by the attorney general).
If you are looking to move to another state exclusively to avoid California's gun laws, then Nevada is a poor choice. It will be a long time before Nevada ever gets as bad as California, but the demographics are against us. High tech workers from Silicon Valley are now flooding into Washoe County, for example. There are other reasons to move to Nevada, more important (to me, anyway) than gun laws.
The red/blue dichotomy doesn't seem as cut and dried in Arizona. While the urban centers are turning the state blue, gun rights are regarded very differently there compared to most other west coast states. I think Arizona will be pretty safe for much longer than Nevada, though maybe not for as long as, say, Utah.
Sheriffs are the same, except for sheriff Joe, and he's out. Tucson was taken to court because they've been destroying guns used in crime CONTRARY TO STATE LAW but they keep doing it anyway.
As long as more people live in Phoenix than the rest of the state put together, it's teetering on the edge of going full blown blue at any moment. We've got too damn many Californians here already, move somewhere else.Comment

Trump's huge support for border control is going to help too I would think.

Not even medicinal pot here. Even the democrats are not really anti gun.
Of course tequila can only be purchased at state run liquor stores.....Comment

Nevada has been a swing state and moved in the blue direction. It seems I read here that people are happy to move from California to Arizona due to California gun laws.
Except, looking at this last election (http://brilliantmaps.com/2016-county-election-map/) it seems Arizona is turning blue with democratic voting.
Seems Navada or Utah might be better.
Information on how the residents of Nevada have voted in presidential elections. Includes trends and polls for the 2024 election, as well as a Nevada voting history and narrative.
It went blue in 1992, 1996, 2008, 2012, 2016
Second to last time Arizona was blue was 1948, most recent was 1996.

Nevada voters just passed a universal background check referendum. Luckily they ****ed up and the law is impossible to enforce. Arizona just passed a bill banning universal background checks.
Nevada is shall issue concealed carry and permitless open carry. Illegal concealed carry is a felony punishable by 1-5 years in jail (In california is a misdemeanor and does not trigger an ownership ban once off probation). Arizona is constitutional carry, meaning you do not need a permit to carry open or concealed.
You're judging the political landscape based on geography and not on actual voting trends.Comment

Answer is not just about "Californians" with liberal ideology moving to these states, that is only part of the answer. It seems I read here that people are happy to move from California to Arizona due to California gun laws.

The real issue is a naturally declining white America compared to a naturally increasing hispanic America. By the time Texas turns blue.... and it will eventually.... It's all over folks!Comment

Yep, as urbanization increases, gun rights decrease. It's a losing scenerio.Look, it happens in EVERY state.
As traditional Americans die off and are replaced by foreigners, those rights will not be defended down the road. America is turning "blue" whether you like it or not. Add the massive increases in foreign born population growth (we are the 3rd largest population in the world, only outdone by China and India) it's only a matter of time before traditional Americans are outbred.
Look at Japan from a space photo. Every flat area is urbanized now. Only the mountains are not grey with buildings. As populations increase, gun rights decrease. Rural states will be the last to hold on long after urban states have eliminated gun ownership. No, the Supreme Court will not save us either, states aleady ignore them without consenquence.Comment
