Quartzsite; very gun friendly little town. I'm quite sure they're ammo-friendly too.

The people that think ammo prices might go down because there's an increased customer base must have failed economics. Reducing competition, creating a captive customer base, imposing geographic limits (a great sale in Missouri or even Los Angeles is pointless for someone in San Jose since online purchases will be so cumbersome), and increasing regulatory requirements are all textbook factors that increase price.

The only mitigating factor is that the price of ammo (just the ammo) is flat or declining. Merchants may or may not pass that savings on. Even if a kind merchant does discount, it would only benefit nearby shoppers because of the geographic restraints. A Fresno shop has no reason to price match a San Diego sale price. "If the price is so good there, you drive there and buy it!"

It's similar to a concession stand at a sports event but on a bigger scale; anyone ever see cheap food prices at a game? Yeah it's a lot cheaper on the other side of the stadium fence & if you can sneak in the hotdog then you're golden but that's another topic.

I believe it will go down, just not in CA. In CA the increased complexity will cause prices to jump, and thus reduce sales volume. The reduced sales to a market as large as CA will cause the prices back in America (where *I* will be) to drop.

My concern is for the less common ammo and I am trying to stock up before hand. I made the mistake of thinking I would like a 22WMR... I finally found some ammo that was not approaching .308 price and ordered a bunch. What happens when I have to rely on the local guy who really does not want to stock it just for me?

9mm, 223, 22lr, I agree with others that we will probably see a 25% or so increase... at first. If they can keep people paying higher and higher ammo prices I don't see why they would stop selling at higher and higher prices.

What I was hoping we could do is place an order online still in bulk, have it shipped to an FFL and they can slap a surcharge on it for handling and we do business and everyone is happy. I realize this creates a lot of extra work for the FFL so odds are it won't happen... pipe dream.

Ammo prices will go down next year because there will be a surplus from California not buying it. Rent a UPS box in Yuma and get deliveries from SG Ammo. Not a problem here.

ummm you can do that with the new law in place.

the law only prohibits the citizen from having ammo delivered directly to their home from internet sales unless you have a FFL03/COE

order online, have it shipped to a FFL, they charge $10 state fee + $XX dealer fee + background check, and you walk out the door in the time it takes for the background check to go through.

the kicker is, will BOE force FFL's to collect sales tax on the ammo like they are with guns? if they do, there goes most if not all the savings of ordering online.

I'm sure prices will increase for the LGS to handle the storage, handling, paperwork, BS, etc.
And I wouldn't be surprised if Newsom if/when he gets elected next year as governor introduces a ration on purchases as his next step to screw us over even further.

I think a lot of people are going to get out of the hobby, when ammo becomes a problem, they will spend money on other recreation / hobbies / sport

                  gun sales will drop

it might take a few years, but Im guessing the prices will become unreasonable, then they will add gun licensing for all firearms.
In part it will depend on the cost of retailers implementing the CA approved process
