Range Prep Time vs. Bug Out Time

    Are they related?

Are you the type of person that takes forever to prepare for a range trip? Can you grab everything you need for the day and go now, or do you have various things that you need "get in line" before stepping out the door.

Would the answers to the above questions be completely different if you had to leave in a hurry (ex: the dam above you may bust at any moment) and you were in a "grab n' go" scenario?

I've got most of my range stuff staged. Steel targets are at the front of the garage ready to be loaded. There's an action packer full of range stuff like spray paint, clay thrower, misc parts to repair targets, staple gun, etc. There's always two ammo cans fully topped off with range ammo ready to grab and throw in the truck. The only thing I really need to do is decide which guns are going and load a small cooler with drinks and stuff.

SHTF is a little different and will take a bit more time due to the silliness that is Ca laws.

I can grab a pack that has ammo, mags, ears and eyes. Guns are quick access. Extra ammo is in the cars.

For range activity there are already about 25 plates set up. I just have to decide what guns I will take, how much ammo to take based on who is going with me, and chairs, table, canopy. It is all in easy reach or already in my dedicated gun vehicle.

For public ranges I have a folding wagon and put all my tools and zeroing related stuff in it.

Bugout is quick. Really quick. Simple, and light. Range prep and load is organized and MUCH more time.

Depends what I'm planning to shoot that day.

If it's a pistols-only day, I can be out the door in 2 minutes.

If it's a rifle day, it can take me an hour or longer to get everything together.

God forbid if it's a combined rifle/pistol/shotgun day, I'll be up all night getting ready.

If I'm bugging out, I'm screwed. While I have all the bugout gear I would need, somewhere, it's scattered all over the place. I tried making a BOB one time, and it was awesome for about 2 days before I had to start digging stuff back out. Turns out that if you want a BOB, but you also enjoy hunting, camping, or other outdoor sports, you sort of need to buy duplicates of everything or else you'll end up pillaging your BOB every other day.

Settle down, folks. The new "ghost gun" regulations probably don't do what you think they do.

Range prep time depends on whether it's a public range or a BLM.

Normally take my sweet time preparing for a range trip...selecting what guns I want to shoot, ammo, targets, etc....bugout situation, I'm just grabbing a few ultra dependable gun options, plenty of ammo, and other essential survival items. I don't think I would have any problem doing this in 5-10 minutes should it be necessary

They are different. Different firearms, ammo, supplies, targets etc.. I have two lists. Either takes about 5 minutes to stage.

Depends on how often you go, I suppose. Generally I'm always packed for the range because everything I need except ammunition fits in a range bag and it's always ready to go. I don't go as often as I'd like, but probably more than most people.

In a previous life I traveled a great deal for business. The secret, I learned, was to always keep a bag packed. I got my shirts boxed at the cleaners so I could just keep several of them at a time in a bag along with some underwear and a shaving kit. Took me no time at all to pack for a trip because I was always ready.

I dont go to the range very often, so it takes a while to get ready maybe 20 minutes since my guns need to be checked ,lubed, wiped off

rifle/pistol/shotgun range day trip takes me at least an hour to get all the gear and ammo together and packed, then another hour to load the car with the gear/guns/target stands/cooler/table/chairs

if just pistol range day, about 10 minutes. since i can put all the ammo and targets into 1 range bag, and grab the pistol case and go. (since i shoot indoors if pistol only)

bug out time, i am unsure. i mean i wouldn't need to pack target stands/targets/chairs/table so that would cut down some time, and i sure as heck wouldn't need to decide what guns/ammo to bring, i would just grab as much as i can in the time allowed. maybe i can load in 15 minutes assuming no help from family members.
